My Experience with NYX Butter Lip Gloss – Apple Strudel:

I love products from NYX. I find this brand to be highly affordable yet they have such high-quality products. Ever since their butter range came out, it seems like that’s what all beauty bloggers seem to be talking about.  I have tried a butter lip balm in the shade “Brownie” from NYX and have loved it so much that I decided to try a butter gloss this time around. I have to say I am very much impressed with this product and must say it totally lived up to the hype.

Packaging:

All the butter glosses come in a standard opaque gloss tube and the color of the tube represents the color of the gloss itself. Though it may not always be an accurate representation of the color, but it does help to find a particular shade quickly amongst a clutter of glosses.

Shade:

The shade “Apple Strudel” is a milky peach color. It is not super pigmented yet it is not sheer. It falls somewhere in between. I feel like it does give enough color to my lips, especially it being a lighter shade. The darker shade will of course be more pigmented, but I do feel like they may not hide pigmented lips completely. This shade may be tricky to work with on its own for medium/dark skin beauties as it may have a tendency to make your face look dead if paired with the wrong skin tone, but in that case, I feel like this would work best layered on top of a pink lipstick which is how I usually love to wear.  It can work on its own too for light skin tones and will look best paired with a dark/smokey eye.

Texture/Consistency:

The gloss itself is on the thicker side. It does glide very smooth like butter and coats my lips evenly. It does not settle in fine lines on my lips. My lips do feel very hydrated and moisturized with this gloss on which is a boon for people who occasionally suffer from dry and chapped lips. It does impart a very shiny look to the lips yet it does not feel too sticky or slippery on the lips.  This is probably the most comfortable gloss I have ever used and I love the feel and look of this on my lips. I usually am not a gloss girl because I do not like the stickiness aspect of it, but ever since using this, I tend to reach for this more and more every time.

Staying Power:

The shine on my lips looks fresh for about 3-4 hours after which the shine does seem to wear down, but I can still see a hint of color on my lips. It does transfer but not too much. It also will survive through minimal snacking but not through a full meal. In total, the wear time of this would be around 4-5 hours on me which is quite good for a gloss. It does not leave a tint after it fades.

Fragrance:

It does have a sweet fruity vanilla scent which I like and do not find bothersome.

In the LOTD, I am wearing Apple Strudel on my bare lips.
