NYX Color Correcting Cream – Lavender Review

Hello all,

The beauty market is currently inundated with BB and CC creams. NYX also launched new CC creams a few months ago. This cream comes in three shades of Peach, Green, and Lavender. Each shade again comes in two of its own color choices Light/Medium and Medium/Deep. Today, I am reviewing the NYX Color Correcting Cream Lavender in “Light/Medium” shade. Read on to find out more.

NYX Color Correcting Cream - Lavender

Price:
$14 for 1 fl oz/30 ml.

Product Description:
Boost your complexion with our Vitamin E and Pro-Vitamin B5 infused Color Correcting Cream. This sheer foundation helps your skin look perfect. Watch the shades shift from green, lavender or peach to a sheer, natural looking skin tone.  LAVENDER – BRIGHTENS: Lavender pigment beads transform into a naturally n*de, lightweight foundation upon contact with skin, offsetting dullness and leaving you with a fresh, revived complexion.

How To Use:
Squeeze product onto hand and blend with fingers in circular motions, or use a foundation brush to work it into the skin.

My Experience with NYX Color Correcting Cream – Lavender:

Packaging: The CC cream comes in a narrow plastic tube packaging. The tube has 3 lavender bands running across since this is the “Lavender: shade. Needless to say, the other 2 shades, peach and green have respective colored bands on the tube. The tube comes with a black screw-on cap. It has a fairly narrow nozzle which is good because you can control how much product you squeeze out of the tube.

Consistency/Finish/Coverage:  The consistency of the CC Cream is neither too thick nor too runny. It feels creamy on the skin. When I first squeezed out the cream onto my hand, I was a little worried as the cream is indeed lavender in color and I was not sure how it would end up looking on the skin. But after slightly blending it on my face, I was pleased to note that there were no shades of lavender left. In fact, the cream blended and evened out very easily and gave a smooth even finish to my face. But I did not see any brightness or radiance as promised.

CC cream

There is no sheen or dewy-ness and the finish is matte. It does not feel drying nor does it provide any extra hydration to my skin.  NYX is marketing it as a lightweight foundation, but please note that the coverage is very, very sheer, if at all. I personally do not think you can brand it as a foundation. You can use it as a primer under your foundation to give your face an even finish. But that’s it, do not expect miracles out of it. CC creams in general are much lighter than BB or foundations and that is what you get from this cream.

Color correcting cream

The good part is that it does not oxidize nor does it make the skin dry or oily.  Personally, I was left a bit disappointed with this CC cream as it does not do much for the dollars that you pay for it.

Pros of NYX Color Correcting Cream – Lavender:

  • Perfect consistency.
  • Blends easily.
  • Provides a smooth even finish to the skin.
  • Comes in a variety of shades.
  • Does not make the skin dry or oily.

Cons of NYX Color Correcting Cream – Lavender:

  • Very sheer coverage; cannot be used as a substitute for a foundation if you need more coverage.
  • Does not brighten up the face as promised.
  • No SPF.
  • Expensive for what it does.

IMBB Rating:
2.5/5

Would I Repurchase NYX Color Correcting Cream – Lavender?
I would recommend this CC cream only for those who need very little corrections or coverage, others can skip this. I would not repurchase as it did not do much for my skin.

  1. Awww… I use BB and CC creams more than foundations, this one does not seem to do anything at all. Such a dud!
