How are you guys? How is winter coming along.. ??? I know it must be super cold in most parts of the country! Well in mumbai there are no winters  the temperature lowers only down a bit and that’s it ! It is such fun to have a cup of coffee in a chilling weather and I really miss that here in Mumbai .

With winters comes a constant problem dry skin and chapped lips  So we need a lip balm handy with us all the time! Well, that, is the kind of excuse I give myself every time I buy a new lip balm. 😀 Winters or no winters we all love lip balms don’t we ? 😉 Today I am reviewing a lovely lip product from NYX. It is NYX color Lip balm “Obrigado”.

Salt (CI 15850), D&C Red 28 Al Lake (CI 45410), D&C Red 7 Ca Lake (CI 15850), FD&C Yellow 5 Al. Packaging: It comes in a cute black packaging. It’s sturdy and travel friendly. It is very important to have a convenient packaging for lip balms since it is the one thing that most of us carry around in our purse! There is colored band on the pack as you can see in the picture, so it is very easy to identify the color of the balm without opening it . Its is a usual twist up tube and and the balm stick doesn’t stick to the edges of the container while using it so there is no wastage of product.

My experience with NYX color Lip balm Obrigado:

I bought this lip balm when I was looking for a change for my staple maybelline baby lips lip balms.This seemed to be a good option since the shade I bought is very similar to maybelline baby lips in Berry crush. I have used a lot of nyx products till date and a very few of them have proved to be total duds so I had high expectations from this one! And it hasn’t disappointed me ! well , not totally I mean.  It’s texture is extremely buttery and smooth. It reminds me of revlon lip butters  but truth to be told , and don’t judge me , I think its too buttery ! I mean after putting on lips , it felt so smooth that I was afraid it will smudge and bleed by itself ! well that didn’t happen at all 😀 but yes, it might bleed a bit when the weather is too hot. It did’nt settle in the lip lines at all. Also, its sheer lip balm so to get a bit of color you have to swipe it multiple times. But for sheer lip balms lovers , it is a treat . Like most of the nyx lipsticks , you have to keep it away from high tempretures to avoid melting.

After almost 10 mins of application , it dried a bit and looked more like a sheer lipstick.  It has faint smell which is hardly noticeble. Being so smooth , It is very easy to apply and not waxy at all. It does tranfer a bit though , and doesn’t stay for long .  I have to reapply it every two hours . But on the other hand, it is a delight to apply so I really don’t mind. Now, let me quicky sum up the yays and nays for this cute little balm .

Pros of NYX Color Lip Balm Obrigado:

• It’s very light in application.
• Good pigmentation.
• It isnt waxy at all.
• Beautiful colour range to pick from.
• Provides ample hydration.
• Doesn’t settle in lip lines.
• Glides beautifully.

Cons of NYX Color Lip Balm Obrigado

Its staying power is average.
It doesn’t contain spf.
It doesn’t heal the chapping , thought they don’t claim it either. So I guess cannot be counted as con, but I expect lip balms to provide some relief to dry chapped lips, Now that is why they are called balms , are’nt they ??
But in texture these are fairly close to lip butters from revlon and loreal. NYX has another product for the lip butter range, so I waiting to try that and see how those fare .. but that is for another time 😀

For me , this is a good product for a change from our beloved Maybelline baby lips , but I wouldn’t buy three or four more shades from the same range. (and that happens quite some times , being a lip balm hoarder that I am 😉 ) though for their price these are a good choice specially if you like lip butters. I hope you enjoyed the review ..  Till next time ..
