Hello Beautiful Ladies out there,
How is your week coming along. We use a primer to prevent makeup meltdown due to sweat and oil produced by the skin. Same way, we use a setting spray to prevent makeup meltdown due to environmental factors. Primer goes under the makeup and setting spray goes over the makeup. I recently reviewed two awesome primers, the It Cosmetics Feel the Moment Primer Serum and Mally Beauty Perfect Prep Poreless Primer. Now, I am excited to bring you the review on NYX Dewy Finish Makeup Setting Spray.

My Experience with NYX Dewy Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray:
Sometimes, we tend to use a lot of powder products on our face. Starting from setting powder, blush , bronzer etc. So, there is a chance of our makeup looking cakey. That’s when setting sprays come into picture. They give a refined look by removing the overtly powdery look from our face.
The first makeup spray I have ever tried was the MAC Fix+ and I had a love-hate relationship with that one. I have read a lot of good reviews about this product and wanted to try it.
This setting spray comes in a black plastic spray bottle with a plastic cap. The plastic cap is not very tightly fit, so there are chances of it getting missed if you carry the bottle in a bag or purse. The spritzer sprays fine mist. I like to spritz it upwards and let the mist settle on my face. That way, I avoid any droplets that might fall on my face and disturb the makeup.
Once spritzed over the face, it dries pretty quickly within a few seconds, but it causes my skin to feel a little tight and the tightness stays on for a while and causes a little discomfort. I do not detect any smell from this product though.
I have tried it over a full face of makeup, with a cream foundation, setting powder, powder blush, eye shadow, liner and mascara. The mascara and the liner I used were not waterproof, but still, this spray did not make them runny. I had applied a primer underneath my makeup.
I used about 3 to 4 spritz to cover my face. It reduces the powdery look caused by my setting powder and gave a nice look. After about 5-6 hours of roaming outside, my blush was still visible along with my eye makeup, but my foundation and powder were not as fresh as when I had applied them, but they had faded evenly.
I do think this has improved my makeup longevity to some extent, but definitely, I like the way it took away the powdery look.
If you are a person who uses a lot of mineral makeup or lot of powder makeup, you can give this a try. If you use liquid or cream foundation, which by itself imparts some dewiness, then you can skip this spray.
Also, if you are fond of 100% matte makeup, this is not the spray for you. You can try the matte version of this spray.
Here are the pros and cons of this product:
Pros of NYX Dewy Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray:
- Sets makeup nicely and gives a non-powdery finish.
- Sprays even mist.
- Dries quickly.
- No funky odor.
- Prolongs the wear of makeup when compared to not wearing a setting spray.
- Priced reasonably.
- Cruelty free.
Cons of NYX Dewy Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray:
- May not be suitable for oily skin.
- Makes skin feel a little tight immediately after application.
- Makeup does not look like “just applied” after long hours.
- Contains alcohol.
This is the second setting spray I am trying after the MAC Fix+. I like the way this removes the powdery look from the face, but not completely wowed by its performance in prolonging the makeup longevity. I would like to try their matte version setting spray before deciding on repurchasing this.
