I love trying out new mascaras and eyebrow products every now and then. At the moment, I own four different eyebrow products and I love each one of them. This pencil by NYX is one of my favourites. Let’s find out why.
Nothing pulls together a look quite like beautifully defined brows. Enter the sleek new Sculpt and Highlight Brow Contour, our 2-in-1 pencil that defines, fills and uses shadow and light to lift the brows to eyebrow perfection.

My Experience with NYX Espresso/Light Beige Sculpt and Highlight Brow Contour:
This is not a regular eyebrow pencil. It is a two-in-one product. It contains an eyebrow product and a highlighter. The eyebrow product is in a thin pencil form while the highlighter is thick. The great thing about the shapes of both of these is that it facilitates application. It is very easy to apply the product, hence the shapes are quite thoughtful. Both the products come with their individual caps which prevent damage. The caps lock well and have never come off on their own so far. I like to use a spoolie while doing my eyebrows, hence I miss it in this pencil. Still, I do not have any complaints with the packaging.
There are a lot of shades to choose from in this range, which is great. People with all sorts of skin tones and eyebrow colors will find a match. I think the shade selection, again, is quite thoughtful. I mean, isn’t it perfect how the eyebrow product and highlighter both match me so well? I hope it’s same with other shades too. The shade I have is called Espresso/Light Beige, wherein Espresso is for the brow pencil and Light Beige is for the highlighter. Espresso is a warm-toned deep brown color that matches my brow hair well. It gets easily mixed with my natural hair, making my brows appear naturally polished. The highlighter is a matte light beige shade that blends well with my skin tone, giving the appearance of a perfectly highlighted look.
The eyebrow pencil is waxy and easy to blend. It gets blended easily with my brows. It’s neither too thin nor too thick, hence it is easy to work with. It glides quite smoothly on my brows without creating any mess. The highlighter is creamy and easy to apply. I apply a little under on my brow bone and then blend with my finger. You may also use a small brush. It works well and blends like a dream. The pigmentation, as you can guess, is really good. I need not go over and over to get the defined look. I personally love the effects this duo helps me create, i.e. of well-polished and natural-looking brows.
I have normal-dry skin and I see the highlight fading after 3-4 hours but the eyebrow pencil stays in place for as long as I want. It does fade a little but then touch-up also is quite easy. Now, let me quickly talk about the cons of this pencil; they do not matter much to me, though. The highlighter bullet has broken from the base. Hence now I need to be careful while twisting it out. I can still work with it but I wasn’t expecting it to break off so quickly. Second, some might not like the shape of this highlighter, especially women with smaller eye area. One more thing: it cannot really tame eyebrow hair. You know how wax and mascara tame it? But then I might be expecting too much. 😀
Overall, love this duo a lot. It is super easy to use, matches my skin tone and hair color well and stays in place for super long. It is a must have and has been priced well. In fact, the highlighter’s volume is so good that you can actually use it to highlight your entire eye area like the inner corners and above the brows, not just brow bone. Also, I am glad to know that NYX is a cruelty-free brand and uses better ingredients than other drugstore brands. Did I say I love this duo a lot? 😀
