NYX Extreme Jet Black Doll Eye Waterproof Mascara Review

Hope all of you are enjoying your day! I am back with another NYX product today. It was gifted to me, luckily! I would not say that it is the best budget friendly mascara in the market as it will certainly do injustice to Maybelline and L’Oreal mascaras, however getting it as a gift won’t hurt you as it works decent even when it is highly humid; not to forget that it is cruelty free as well as waterproof. Though, the presence of parabens makes it dicey for people like me who are psychologically sensitive to parabens & sulphates. 😛 So, let’s read on to know more about NYX Extreme Jet Black Doll Eye Waterproof Mascara!

My Experience with NYX Extreme Jet Black Doll Eye Waterproof Mascara:

 

The mascara comes in signature plastic black tube packaging with bushy mascara wand – nothing unique or fancy. I find it quite sleek, user friendly and travel friendly. The shade Extreme Jet Black seems rich black in texture and appearance which will complement every Indian skin tone. Although the texture seems to be a bit dry to me as it develops slight clumps on my lashes upon multiple swipes.

 

It dries up pretty fast so no complaints of staining. But, it is too dry to give a smooth and lump free finish to my lashes! I can notice small black lumps in between the lashes post applying it on eyes which makes it look very unnatural and not-so-perfect. I don’t think any girl would be fine with that lump of black mascara on lashes while grooming up for any occasion or while hanging out!

 

I find it good for swimming and all water sports as it does not bleed or smudge even after hours of pool activity, but that uneven lumpy finish bothers me more than its waterproof quality. Even I don’t find anything unique in this mascara as per the claims; it gives me natural and not very dramatic look unless I swipe it several times which arises another issue of that uneven lumpy finish.

The formula of the mascara is okayish which has not caused any irritation to my sensitive lashes so far. I think the mascara wand also deserves credit for such clumpy lash look as it never picks up ample product and I need to dip it several times into the tube to get perfect pigmentation and hence,  the results on my medium length lashes are always uneven.

 

This mascara is very similar to the Flower mascaras which I own, but they at least do not clump. I mean, if I had to make a choice, I would pick Flower ones because they give a more natural finish with no lumps and/or uneven finish which is more important to me.

 

 

I think this one would work fine for girls with naturally long and perfect lashes who just want to keep their lashes curled for decent hours with waterproof and smudge free finish. But, I won’t recommend anyone to layer it on and on.

 

 

 

It does not give any tremendous volume boost or long lash look; it just keeps the lashes curled for some hour, that’s it! I mean it gives a nice look to the eyes, but nothing groundbreaking. Probably, I am done with this mascara and might not get it again.

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of NYX Extreme Jet Black Doll Eye Waterproof Mascara:

• A budget friendly, cruelty free mascara to get curly lashes
• Gives smudgeproof and waterproof finish for good hours
• It does not budge or smudge even after several hours of pool activity or water sports
• It does not irritate our sensitive eyelashes nor does it make eyelashes weak
• It easily comes off with an oil concoction
• It stays put for decent hours on my oily eyelids that to in humid weather
• The product gives fuller and curly lashes up to some extent, nothing unique though
• Quite user friendly & travel friendly packaging

Cons of NYX Extreme Jet Black Doll Eye Waterproof Mascara:

• The finish is quite uneven on my lashes
• It does not live up to its claims
• I can notice black lumps between lashes after 2-3 swipes which looks odd
• It looks very artificial or made up

Conclusion:
Well, I find it pretty decent, but not exceptional especially after trying out other drugstore mascaras by L’Oreal, Maybelline & Flower etc. I find my Flower mascaras much better in terms of finish than this one. I think I am done with this mascara and might try another brand or variant from NYX!
