NYX Eye/Eyebrow Pencil – Sky Shimmer Review

Hello Beautiful Ladies,

Today, I will be reviewing an eye pencil from NYX. This is my fourth eye pencil from NYX, but this one is different from all the others I have – this one has shimmer in it.  All the other pencils I have from NYX or even from other companies do not have any shimmer particles, but this one is filled with silver shimmer.  It has so much shimmer that the particles can clearly be seen in the pictures as well.

Price:

INR 295 for 1 gm.

Packaging:

Like all NYX pencils, this one too is a black pencil with a black cap. The bottom section of the pencil is colored which depicts the color of the pencil and this one is particularly unique because the bottom section is not only blue colored but it also has little silver colored dots which clearly shows that the actual pencil has shimmer particles.

My Take on NYX Eye/Eyebrow Pencil – Sky Shimmer:

Color:  The name of the pencil clearly indicates the color of the pencil. ASky Shimmer is a sky blue colored eye pencil with loads of silver shimmer particles. The color is different and might be a little out of the comfort zone for many girls, but it doesn’t look too bold on the lids. In fact, it is a beautiful color for the lower lash line. I will not recommend using this on the water line due to obvious reasons (the heavy shimmer particles that might get into the eyes and irritate them).  The shimmer particles are big but they do not look bad, rather they beautifully compliment the color of the pencil. In the pencil, the particles seem to be silver, but when applied, they seem to be much more green.  Although sometimes I do use my eye pencils for coloring my lids too, but in this case, if the color is applied all over the lid, the color seems to be chalky.

Texture:  The pencil is decently smooth to use. I won’t say that it glides like butter and that may be due to the heavy particles.

Pigmentation:  The pencil has good pigmentation, one swipe is enough to get the color.  Actually, one swipe is as good as two swipes. The intensity of the color does not increase with the number of swipes.

Staying Power:  The color can smudge easily but only if rubbed with a finger, but otherwise, the color stays on the lids for quite a long time. It can easily stay up to 4-5 hours. After around 3 hours, the intensity of the color might start to fade, but it still goes strong for 5 hours. The shimmer particles can be a pain to remove as they stick on the lids for a long time – this is both a pro and a con.  Good because, even when the color is gone, the shimmer stays there to make your eyes look sparkly and bad because it takes some time to get rid of it completely.

Pros of NYX Eye/Eyebrow Pencil – Sky Shimmer:

• Affordable.
• Beautiful color that can give a good transition from day to night look.
• Great staying power.
• The shimmer particles are easily visible but still do not look odd.
• Sufficiently smooth to apply.
• Good pigmentation.

Cons of NYX Eye/Eyebrow Pencil – Sky Shimmer:

• Might look cakey if applied all over lids.
• Non retractable (I don’t like sharpening pencils)

Would I Repurchase NYX Eye/Eyebrow Pencil – Sky Shimmer?

Although I was satisfied with the pencil, but I will not buy it again because I don’t use shimmer products much due to which this would last me for a lifetime.

Would I Recommend NYX Eye/Eyebrow Pencil – Sky Shimmer?

This is a good product in this price range and you can buy this if you are a fan of shimmer products.
