Hello all,

On one of my shopping sprees, I came across this cute little bottle and I just couldn’t resist myself from buying it. The packaging as well as the contents looked quite attractive and hence I ended up picking it. Read on to find out more about NYX Honey Dew Me Up Primer.

Product Description:
Inspired by honey’s golden glow, we developed a primer that neutralizes the appearance of discoloration and redness. Our innovative light reflective gold flecks create a luminous look that will help keep your skin looking radiant all day.

Primer details

My Experience with NYX Honey Dew Me Up Primer:

Packaging: This product comes in a gorgeous glass bottle with a golden screw on cap. It has a spatula-like applicator which I personally do not find very practical. The product does not have a consistency as thick as to stick to the spatula and hence the application becomes slightly messy. They could have easily packaged this product with a pump.

Consistency/Finish/Coverage:  This primer has a very light gold color and has visible gold flecks suspended in it. The texture is slightly sticky and reminds me of watered-down honey, which by the way is one of the primary ingredients in this product. Honestly, this product doesn’t look like a primer to me at all and is closer to a serum in its texture.

The primer gets absorbed pretty easily. I was a bit apprehensive initially about the gold flakes but they turned out to be neither a pro nor a con. They did not seem to add any extra brightness and disappeared post application.
The primer does leave behind a slightly sticky feeling. It sets gradually to a dewy finish. I am more used to matte finish primers and hence not totally impressed.

Applicator

Moreover, I don’t think this primer makes any visible difference to my skin as such. It doesn’t hide any imperfections or pores like a regular silicone primer.

Primer applicator

To summarize, this product does not exactly look or behave like a regular primer plus it is quite pricey at 17 dollars. Maybe NYX should repackage and re-market it as a serum. In its current form, it is best avoided.
