NYX Jumbo Pencils need no introduction. They are very popular and come in a range of colors and are also priced decently (approximately Rs. 350 in India). I own many of them and they are really handy.
A radiant eye liner that also doubles as an eye shadow. Made with a blend of mineral oil and powder, our creamy Jumbo Eye Pencils glide on effortlessly—no pulling, tugging or fading—and come in a rainbow of vivid hues. Some call her chubby. We say voluptuous. Available in 28 shades.

“French Fries” is one of their “most popular” shades and is at times sold out in stores. It is a brown warm shimmer which is just great for subtle brown smokey eyes. “Slate” is a greyish darkish color with shimmer in it. It does have blue overtones to it.
NYX Jumbo eyes pencils are really good, especially for proving a base when you want to go for a heavy or a pigmented eyeshadow look. You can also use them on its own, like I do for “French Fries” at times. It is also great as it doubles up as an eyeliner.
It does tend to crease to a degree, but I guess it is bearable, especially at the price range. It is a great base for eyeshadows that have poor pigmentation.
“Slate” is a great color when you want to go for a dark smokey eye, but don’t really want to use black at all. It gives a good, dark, metallic sheen to your look when used.
To sum it up:
Pros of NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Slate and French Fries:
- Great value.
- Good pigmentation.
- A variety of colors to experiment.
- Lasts forever.
- It can be applied solo or as a base.
- It can be used as an eyeliner (but not on the waterline).
- Very easy to store.
Cons of NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Slate and French Fries:
- You need to sharpen it often, hence wastage of product.
- Tends to crease after a while when used solo.
- Needs a good base to make it last longer.
I have many of them and they are really good, especially as base. They are great for my eyeshadows that are poor in pigmentation and these pencils really make the color come alive. While creasing is a problem, I think they are still worth it totally and I tend to collect most of the colors eventually.
