NYX Locked Full Throttle Lipstick Review

The start of a month literally means shopping for me 😛 I got a few lipsticks which I have been enjoying since the past few days. This is surprisingly my first ever NYX product! Read on for more details on this lipstick 🙂

My Experience with NYX Locked Full Throttle Lipstick:

Packaging: In the first look, it appears simple and handy. There is nothing special about the packaging, just a thin and simple black tube with color-coded top. The body of the lipstick has the necessary details like the ingredients mentioned on it. The bullet is not conventional but has some ridges at the sides. It looked like it was gonna be helpful, but is actually pretty useless. They disappear after you swipe the lipstick more than twice. What I liked is that the size of the bullet is sleek unlike others, which is a boon for gals with ‘thin lips’ like me 😀

Shade: The shade “Locked” is a gorgeous berry purple with pink tones to it. I thought it would be too mature, but it flatters me so well! This will flatter fair to medium skin tones really well. I also did play with it a little and did an ombre lip using Rose Dawson from Sugar (check LOTD).

Texture and Pigmentation:  The texture felt rubbery initially, but glides smoothly after I used it for the second time. Even though my lips were not exfoliated, it went on smoothly and did not highlight the dryness at all. It settles down to a perfect matte finish. Pigmentation is also awesome. The intensity is just bang on. You do not require more than two swipes. It completely hides the lip pigmentation too.

Staying Power:

Some matte formulas have this habit of transferring, but this one amazed me. The claim of being waterproof is actually true. It quite survives all the water sipping and in-between coffee breaks. But with full meals, it fades from the center and the corners. On the whole, it lasts for 6 hours with fading. The best part is that it transfers minimally. No worries of stains on coffee mugs and spoons!

I absolutely love this product in terms of the formula and the shade. This is without a doubt a 5 on 5 lipstick. It just worked well for me. The shades are a little bold in this range, but well, it’s never too late to experiment.
