My Experience with NYX Love in Rio Eyeshadow Palette – Brazilian:

I have loved NYX products most of the time. I find their products to be very inexpensive but still one of the best quality products in the market. I have many of their round creamy lipsticks which are my favorite and I believe they kick the butt of my MAC lipsticks any day.  Having been so impressed with their lipsticks, I can say that in comparison to that, I am not too pleased with this eyeshadow palette I have from them.  Read on to know why.

Packaging:

I do find the packaging to be very cute. The plastic box is very sturdy and practical and the fact that you can see the shades from the outside is very helpful as NYX Love in Rio Eyeshadow Palette consists of 22 different shade pairings, all in the same type of packaging. Hence if you own a few of these, it might be very useful to know which one to reach out for.  The cute bow on the front gives a touch of girly-ness to the product without going overboard.

Texture:

These eyeshadows are very smooth and easy to blend.  I cannot describe them as being creamy because they do feel powdery, but do not feel chalky. They are not very pigmented but using it over a primer helps remarkably and these shadows can be built up to the intensity to your liking easily.

Shades:

I am a big fan of neutral eye. I tend to stay away from experimenting with bold colors in these aspects and prefer my browns/pinks over them. Therefore, when I first saw these colors, I was very excited as I thought this palette will be perfect for creating a beautiful natural/smokey eye.  There are 3 shades in this palette.  There is a beautiful brown/bronze color which is great as an all over lid color and a very light pink which can be used as a brow bone highlighter or as an inner corner brightener.  Both of these shades have golden shimmer which is not too gritty and doesn’t cause much fall out too. The last color is a matte deep grey which can be great as a crease color or can be used to create a sultry smokey eye.

I am okay with the bronze and grey color, but I am disappointed with the light pink shade. The color doesn’t show up much on the skin and all you can see is lots of shimmer. It does provide some brightening, but not too much.

Staying Power:

When worn alone, the staying power is not that impressive. It stays on my lids for 3-4 hours after which I notice that the intensity starts to fade away and my lids are not even oily. With a good primer, I can stretch the staying power up to 6 hours.

NYX eyeshadow palette

Overall, I am not pleased with the shade intensity, staying power and the amount of glitter in the shades though I do like the cute packaging and blendability of these shades.  There are many other better eye shadows in the market hence I would not recommend this even though it is very inexpensive.

Cons of NYX Love in Rio Eyeshadow Palette – Brazilian:
