NYX Orange Single Eyeshadow Review

Hi guys!

I was looking for a transition eyeshadow when I saw this on a website and decided to snatch it. The fact that NYX generally has pretty good stuff to offer and the price factor drew me towards this eyeshadow. Let’s see how it fared.

My Experience with NYX Orange Single Eyeshadow:

Packaging:

It comes in a square plastic box with a transparent lid. The lid clicks open and shut. The packaging is pretty sturdy and travel-friendly. The design is minimal and good. It has 2 grams of product. Note that the packaging for eyeshadow singles has now changed to a circular shape.

Pigmentation:

Oh dear! Where do I start with how disappointed I am!? I wish they had put in some efforts to include some pigment into this eyeshadow. You will have to build several layers to get what you see in the pan translated onto your eyes. I had to build about 4-5 layers of the product for the swatch, and even then, it didn’t show up very well on the camera. This is my biggest complaint about this product. Had the pigmentation been good, I would have easily overlooked other bad aspects and continued to use it.

Shade:

This shade is called ES 69 Orange. Even though, the name is ‘Orange’, the shade is actually more of a light peach. It looks a little more bright in person than in the photos. I wonder why they named the product Orange, while it is not orange at all; it is misleading. For tan skinned ladies, it could be used as a transition shade, if built up or just a wash of colour all over the lid. It is a shade that will work for light to medium to tan skin tones and I am definitely happy about that.

Finish/Fallout:

I would say this has more of a satin finish than a shimmery finish. I like the finish very much, because it is perfect for everyday. There is quite a bit of fallout when I use this. The only solution is to use it wet, which is how I like to use it because of the pigmentation aspect.

Longevity:

When I tested this shadow without a base or primer, it lasted about 2-3 hours, after which it disappeared (I have oily eyelids). It definitely needs a primer even for non-oily eyelids. With a primer on, it starts disappearing within 6 hours of wear.

Consistency:

The consistency of the eyeshadow is very powdery, but it is not chalky. I would say it is in between chalky and buttery. Because of its consistency, it blends out well and does not crease after some time. I am not sure if the quality of their eyeshadow singles has changed with the packaging.

Use:

It can work in multiple ways for multiple skin tones. Depending on that, you can use it as a transition shade, or an all-over lid shade. You can also pair it with a dark burgundy shade in the outer corner, which will look amazing. It can be used on top of a white base like NYX Milk or black base to intensify it.
