My Experience with NYX Pore Filler Primer:

Thanks to my oily skin, I have visible/noticeable enlarged pores around my nose and on the top of my cheeks.  So, I am always on the look out for products which can reduce their appearance.  A few months back, I came across this pore filler from NYX on some makeup blog. I ordered it online immediately since I am quite a fan of their products (and of primers :P)

The texture of this peach-beige coloured pore filler is a lightweight cream like, which seems gritty/crumbly when you squeeze out some amount, but interestingly, it has no particles at all. Despite being creamy, it dries to a powdery finish, which is an added plus if you have oily skin. It has a slight chemical type of smell which just faints away once you have applied it, nothing that bothers or lingers on.

NYX Pore Filler Primer 3

Now, what I really like about this product is the fact that it does work on pores. It actually fills up the pores and gives an almost air brushed, poreless, velvety finish to the skin and as a result my foundation just glides easily and being a silicone-based product it smoothes out the skin well too.  I have used this product only as an under base for my foundation and never on top of it, even though the tube suggests so.

NYX Pore Filler Primer 4

My skin is combination-oily +sensitive, but I haven’t seen this product breaking me out (I use it occasionally, don’t use it daily).
Even though it mattifies the face and dries to a powdery finish, I don’t see this product controlling oil.  After 5-6 hours, I did feel my face looked a little greasy/shiny but my makeup did not melt off completely. So, I do believe it does help in holding the makeup for a good amount of time.

NYX Pore Filler Primer 5

Overall, it’s a pretty decent product and has proved true on its claim of minimizing the look of pores, so no complaints as such. I would recommend it to ladies with combination-oily skin who need some respite from enlarged pores.

But again, it’s just a makeup product, please don’t expect it reduce your pore size in the long run.

What I Like about NYX Pore Filler Primer:

  • Actually fills in/works on pores.
  • Lightweight formula, does not feel heavy on the skin.
  • Smoothes out/preps the skin well for the foundation to apply/blend in easily.
  • Good for oily skin.
  • Improves staying power of makeup.
  • Did not break me out.
  • Oil free and talc free formula.
  • Has a faint fragrance, nothing very strong.
  • Convenient to use and carry tube type packaging.
  • NYX products are not tested on animals.

What I Do Not Like about NYX Pore Filler Primer:

  • Its ingredient list scares me.
  • Since it’s a silicone-based primer, it may not suit all skin types.
  • Does not control oil after 5-6 hours of wearing.
  • I doubt if it is available in India, so we will have to buy it online.
  • I feel it’s a little pricey for the 20 ml quantity.
