My Experience with NYX Pure Red Matte Lipstick:
Packaging: This lipstick comes in a simple black packaging with a transparent band in the middle which shows the color of the lipstick. The cap shuts tight with a click and there is no chance of the cap coming off loose even if you toss the lipstick around in your bag. The sticker at the bottom has the name of the shade. I personally find the packaging a bit too simple and little flimsy.
Shade and Pigmentation: “Pure Red” is a lovely orange-red shade. It is a gorgeous warm shade which instantly brightens up the face. It is a bright shade but will look good on Indian skin tones.
The pigmentation of the lipstick is quite strong. A single swipe is enough to achieve full opacity. Multiple swipes does not make the application patchy. Since this is a bright shade, I would recommend using a lip liner as the lipstick is prone to smearing.
Texture and Finish: This lipstick is quite creamy and applies nicely on the lips. There is no tug during the application and the texture is really good for a matte lipstick. The finish of the lipstick is a gorgeous semi matte. It is not a flat, dull-looking matte. Instead, it has a little sheen which adds that extra something to the finish.
The lipstick does not feel drying, but it is not overly moisturizing either. Also, it tends to hang on to the dry patches on the lip and I would recommend exfoliation of the lips prior to the lipstick application.
One thing that I wanted to mention about this lipstick is that it has a weird smell. It is not really too strong and goes away after application.
Staying Power: The lipstick transfers quite a bit. Also, the creamy formula makes it very easy to smear. The lasting power is about 4-5 hours with light meals. It leaves a pinkish stain behind.
Pros of NYX Pure Red Matte Lipstick:
- Gorgeous orange-red shade.
- Strong pigmentation.
- Nice semi-matte finish.
- Does not feel drying on the lips.
- Very affordable.
Cons of NYX Pure Red Matte Lipstick:
- The lipstick has a weird smell.
- Slightly flimsy packaging.
- Clings to dry patches on the lips.
- Transfers a lot.
Would I Repurchase NYX Pure Red Matte Lipstick?
It is not really a must-have, but you can try if you are on the lookout for an inexpensive orange-red lipstick. I will not repurchase the exact same shade.
