My Experience with NYX Q10 Renew Skin Elixir:

Packaging:  Comes in a simple squeeze tube. Easy to use, convenient and travel friendly.

Texture/Consistency/Feel:  This primer is neither too thick nor runny. It has a gel-like texture which helps it spreads easily onto the skin. It does take about a minute to completely absorb into the skin, but once it does, you can barely feel it on the skin. There is no sticky or greasy residue on the skin.  This product is a hybrid between a skin serum and a primer. It claims to have some good ingredients, namely Coenzyme Q10 which is used in Asian skin care.

Effects:  I could definitely see some subtle brightness/radiance on my skin post application which makes it look healthy. Though it does smooth out the skin texture and makes it ready for foundation application, I did not see it filling in pores like silicone primers.  It smooths out the dry patches while adding a very light layer of moisture. It will not replace your regular moisturizer, but having even a slight dose of moisture is good for people with dry skin like me.

Staying Power:  I did see some improvement in the longevity of my makeup whenever I wore this. Even in the harsh hot summer weather, my makeup did not melt down. It did not get greasy or shiny by the end of the day.

Fragrance:  This product has a light makeup/chemical type scent which does fade away within a couple of minutes, so it is not bothersome.

I do not like the fact that alcohol is so high on the list of ingredients. Though it does not dry out my skin whenever I use it, but it’s still a con for me.

Overall, I do like this product as it performed quite well for me and the fact that it is also so inexpensive. I will recommend this especially for dry and mature skin.

Pros of NYX Q10 Renew Skin Elixir:

  • Lightweight.
  • A hybrid of skin serum and primer.
  • Improves longevity of my makeup.
  • Imparts a beautiful and radiant healthy finish to the skin.
  • Gives a light dose of moisture.
  • Affordable.

Cons of NYX Q10 Renew Skin Elixir:

  • Alcohol is the second ingredient in the list.
  • Does not fill in pores like silicone primers.

  1. Seems like a really good primer, especially the fact that it smooths out dry patches and adds moisture. Alcohol is a bummer here, but I could use it occasionally, right? 😀

  2. A moisturizing primer + serum should be in my vanity. Its sad that a few ingredients have been added on this product, but I think using this once in a while rather than every day won’t hurt, Right?
