I wear copious amounts of black eyeliner every day. My favorite one is by the brand Lancome, but since it is not so gentle on my humble pocket, I devised a way to avoid running out of it every month. I first apply a thick coat of a good, drugstore eyeliner such as the one by Rimmel or NYX, and then layer it with the one from Lancome. My Experience with NYX Retractable Eye Liner Black:
The product comes in a usual, twist-up eyeliner packaging. It has a tube that holds the product and a cap to protect it. The twist-up mechanism seems sturdy and has not given up on me yet – I have been using it for over a month now. The quantity of the product is appropriate for the price paid and the product last a good few months after regular use.
I enjoy trying products by NYX. It is a famous brand for producing affordable, professional-grade makeup. It offers a wide range of products and so many options to choose from and it receives its dedicated aisle in Ulta stores and bigger cities have their own stand-alone NYX stores. The makeup products from this brand perform well, are affordable, and do not harm my skin.
The color is opaque, matte black and gives a smooth, streak-less application in one go. It does not glide super easily like a gel eyeliner but it is not too dry either, it applies on the upper lids with minimal tugging. Also, in a couple of strokes, the full intensity of the color is revealed and multiple coats are not required. This product comes in 13 shade variants.
The staying power is good as long as we don’t tear often or sweat excessively. It is not as black as the one by Lancome, but is still black enough.
This eyeliner has a good staying power, both on the water line and on the lids. It can be used as an eyeshadow base for creating dark smokey eye look and is easy to blend as long as it is not allowed to sit for long. Overall, I like the eyeliner. It is affordable, it performs well, does not smudge and is an opaque black shade.

Cons of NYX Retractable Eye Liner Black:
- This eyeliner is not as black as the liner by Lancome. I wish it was blackest black and would replace its more expensive competitor.
- If applied on the lid, it needs to have a good primer underneath or it will smudge especially on oily lids.
Would I Recommend NYX Retractable Eye Liner Black?
I recommend this product to those who love to dabble with NYX makeup or who love to hoard eyeliners. It is affordable and comfortable to wear. It is smudge proof, waterproof, and ticks all the boxes for a good eyeliner.
