I own a couple of highlighting concealers but have never come across a contouring product that’s perfect for my skin tone. The same goes for this :Sculpt and Highlight Face Duo.” Even though I love the packaging of this product, this product just did not work for me. Keep reading if you want to know why.

My Experience with NYX Sculpt and Highlight Face Duo:
The packaging of this product is quite simple yet it manages to impress. It comes in a lip gloss-like packaging, which facilitates application, and also makes the product travel friendly. For people who do not like to carry palettes and pans, this one is a really good packaging. I am really impressed with the packaging. The wands are sturdy too and apply the products well. You have full control over how much product you wish to apply on your face. Both the sides lock well and not even a tiniest drop can escape the bottle without your permission. Love how you can easily apply the contouring shade precisely; the same goes for this highlighting concealer.
So, as you can see in the pictures, this is a two-in-one product, which means, there is a contouring product on one side and a highlighting concealer on the other. Both the products are liquid-y though not runny, which makes application easier. The highlighting shade is very creamy and blends smoothly with ease. It always reminds me of the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, this one is just a bit thicker.
The contouring shade is a bit thicker than the highlighting shade in my opinion and dries too quickly. Hence, you just need to apply the product and start working on it with a brush, otherwise it might get set and appear streaky. Working so quick with the contouring shade isn’t always easy, especially for a contouring novice like me. Yet it is manageable and I feel it will blend well on oily skin. It does take time on my normal-dry skin.
I had bought this online so the shade could not really match me perfectly. This shade is “Caramel/Vanilla.” As per NYX, the sculpt or contour shade is a deep beige with peach undertone and the highlight shade is a medium light with olive undertone. I thought both the shades would go well with my skin tone but only the highlighting shade matches me perfectly. I could have gone a shade darker for the contouring shade, though. While the highlighting shade looks quite natural on my skin tone, the contouring shade ends up looking a bit orange, leading to an unflattering look, but then choosing the wrong shade is my fault, not the product’s.
The staying power is really good too. The highlighting shade doesn’t budge and doesn’t transfer at all. Yet you may want to set your under-eye area with a powder so that it does not crease. The contouring shade sets too soon and stays in place too. It does not transfer either, unlike powder products. Overall, staying power is quite strong; the contouring shade stays on until I remove it (over a foundation) and the highlighting shade stays for 6-7 hours on my skin. The staying power, of course, will vary as per skin type. Normally, makeup stays on for a good time period on my skin during fall-winter.
I regret that I bought the wrong shade and that I can use only the highlighting shade. I think this duo works quite well and is so useful. This concept is user-friendly and beginner friendly. You can easily practice with this one and carry it wherever you wish. Just choose your shade well. You may try and test various brushes to see which one works for you. I apply the highlighting shade with the wand and then blend it out with my fingers or Beauty Blender. For the contouring shade, I use Real Techniques Sculpting Brush. In the picture, I have applied the highlighting concealer on my eye area and I feel it looks quite seamless.
Pros of NYX Sculpt and Highlight Face Duo:
- Packaging – sturdy, travel-friendly and functional.
- Two-in-one product.
- Wands offer precise application.
- Highlighter shade blends easily.
- Good staying power.
- Products do not transfer.
Cons of NYX Sculpt and Highlight Face Duo:
- Contour shade doesn’t match my skin tone.
- Contour product dries up quite fast.
- Highlighter shade might crease a little under the eyes (common with all undereye concealer).
4.5/5 (Just select the right shade).
Would I Repurchase/Recommend NYX Sculpt and Highlight Face Duo?
Yes, I would go to the upcoming NYX store and pick up the right shade for myself. Hope it works well. I would definitely recommend, a must-try if you do not have contouring and highlighting products but make sure you choose your shade wisely and have the right tools for contouring.
