My Experience with NYX Single Eyeshadow – Asphalt:
I barely have any gold and copper eyeshadows in my collection. Such shades really complement our Indian skin tones well and go extremely well with mostly all traditional outfits. So, here I have a slightly unique shade to review today. This eyeshadow comes in a basic small black square packaging with a transparent lid, which shuts well. The shade name, ingredients and everything is mentioned on the back, but is not visible due to price tag and date details.
The shade “Asphalt” is a medium coppery gold color. It has just the right mix of both gold and copper. It has a metallic finish with some minute shimmers. At first, I thought it would be a very unique and wearable shade and it is, but the color kind of gets merged with my own skin tone. The color is much pigmented but somehow upon blending, it kind of sheers out, and all I am left with is a golden pearly sheen on the lids.
I feel this color would be great for lighter skin tones as it will show up well, but I would definitely suggest swatching it once before buying. Nevertheless, the color is great for any occasion or to pair with ethnic wear. It is a great change from the regular gold and copper shades. Because it was not showing up well on its own on me, I tried using it on a black base, by smudging kohl on eyelids first and then applying the shadow; that way, it shows up slightly better and in a different manner.
The texture is extremely soft and delicate. As a result, there is quite a lot of fallout in the pan and also it gets messy and has to be cleaned well on the sides. I feel it is not pressed as firmly as their other shades and hence so much fallout. It is highly pigmented and there is a lot of color payoff in a single swipe, but it sheers out a bit while blending, so patting it well works the best. It blends out really easily. With a primer underneath, it adheres well and also lasts longer, it stays well on my oily lids for 7 hours after which there is some creasing.

Do I Recommend NYX Single Eyeshadow – Asphalt?
This particular shade is slightly tricky, but if you still like it, I would suggest to swatch it once at the store, but otherwise, this one is pretty average and can be skipped easily.
