NYX Slim Eye Pencil in Sapphire Review
Wearing colored eye liners has become very common nowadays. Though I use more of black liner for work, I like to sport colored eye liners during weekends. Recently, I wanted to add a few more shades to my small stash of colored eye liners from NYX. I was overwhelmed by the shade selection NYX has. I wanted to add a nice rich blue shade to my eye liner collection. After a lot of research on the internet about NYX slim eye pencils, I opted for the shade “Sapphire.”

My Experience with NYX Slim Eye Pencil in Sapphire:
When I got the product (through online shopping), this particular pencil was smelling like an old lipstick, while other pencils didn’t have that funny smell. So, online shopping sites, don’t try to sell old stock to us!!
When I swatched, I was disappointed again. It was not what I had expected. The color was not very rich. It showed up much lighter on my eyes. It is not very creamy. I need to go multiple times over and over to get a decent color. It did not tug while applying though.
One day I wore a blue top to the office, so I used this eye pencil on the outer 2/3rd of my lower lash line (not on the waterline). You can call it an attempt to break the “only black liner to work” rule. By the time I reached the office and looked at myself in the mirror, I saw little blue patches in my under eye area. I thought it could be my mistake with application and removed it with a q-tip.
Later by afternoon, I was quite shocked to see that it had completely smeared down and had given me a raccoon eye :((. Note that I had used my trusted concealer on that day, so there was no chance of dark circles showing up otherwise. You can see in the picture below, how it looks after just one rub, its almost gone!
Swatches:
That was the first and the last day that I used it. I am going to throw this pencil now.
Pros of NYX Slim Eye Pencil in Sapphire:
- Wide shade selection.
- Very affordable.
Cons of NYX Slim Eye Pencil in Sapphire:
- Smears and smudges very badly.
- Had funny smell.
- What you see is not what you get (with respect to the shade).
- Not very creamy.
Final Word:
I am not very happy with the NYX slim eye pencil. It may be used as a base product and top it up with a powder shadow. It failed as a stand-alone product for me 🙁
Has it worked for any of you? Let me know guys 🙂
