NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream – Amsterdam Review
Today, I’m going to review my current Holy Grail lip product that I can’t seem to get enough of! Let me start off by saying that NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are to die for. They are one of a kind and I have never used anything like them ever. I recently bought myself two of these in shades- Amsterdam and Addis Ababa. Addis Ababa has already been reviewed on IMBB. I will be reviewing Amsterdam for you ladies.
Product Claims:
Neither lipstick nor lip gloss—this is matte lip cream. A new kind of pout paint that goes on silky smooth and sets to a matte finish. Soft Matte Lip Cream is surprisingly durable and, unlike some matte lipstick formulas, also moisturizing. Available in 11 lip colors.
Packaging:
These lip creams come in a round plastic tube with a matte black cap. All the ingredients along with the product description are mentioned on the tube. These lip creams come with a doe-foot sponge applicator.
Fragrance:
Beautiful vanilla essence fragrance; something along the lines of fresh baked vanilla muffins!
Shade:
Amsterdam is a bright matte red shade. It instantly brightens up the face. It might be a bit too bright and/or bold for dusky/darker toned women.
My Experience with NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream – Amsterdam:
This lip cream is super soft, smooth and easy to apply. It is completely opaque, highly pigmented, does not transfer, bleed or feather and stays on for hours at a stretch. Since this red is true matte and super bright, I usually do a normal winged eyeliner, slight blush while keeping the lips bold.
I apply a lip balm prior to applying this because it does tend to dry the lips. Don’t get me wrong here, this lip cream is super moisturizing but matte lipsticks in general tend to dry out the lips slightly and accentuate the lines on lips. If you have dry lips, moisturize your lips intensely prior to application because the last thing you want is a matte lipstick that has settled in fine lines. Eeks! The lip balm tends to reduce the matte effect slightly, but it works fine for me.

Once applied, it stays on for almost the entire day. But you might need slight touch up after a meal or a drink.
Last but not the least, this is one of the best lip colors I have used. There is no excuse to not buying this lip color. So ladies, go get yourself one of these soft matter lip creams. They come in 11 gorgeous shades. You will love them!

It’s super matte. I’ve applied lipbalm underneath so it takes away the matte finish slightly. The photos don’t do justice to this amazing lip cream! You should totally get this
