Continuing with the reviews in my NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme haul, this review will be on the shade “Athens.”

My Experience with NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Athens:

Packaging: I love the color-coordinated tube that helps in distinguish the shade right off the bat. The shade name is mentioned via a sticker on the bottom of the tube.

Applicator: The wand is short and precise. It is a double-sided doe foot wand so it picks up enough product for you to coat your entire lips with a single dip using both sides.

Shade: “Athens” is described as a matte peachy beige color. This is one the best true n*de shade that actually works on my light-medium skin tone due to a hint peachy tone to it. It’s a great shade to pair with smokey eyes or with heavy eye makeup to balance out the look. The shade “Athens” has good pigmentation and it does not apply streaky or patchily.

Texture and Feel: The texture of this lip cream is quite pleasing. This lip cream feels featherlight on the lips, almost like a hybrid of a mousse and a cream which sets to a soft matte look as it dries. When I wear this lip cream, I totally forget the fact that I have something on my lips.

Pigmentation: While all the shades that I own have good pigmentation, I have noticed that some shades apply streakier and dry patchier than other. I have found that the shades on the lightest end (some of the n*des and pastel shades) and the darkest end of the spectrum ( some vampy shades and unconventional shades etc) from their range can be streaky and it can get very difficult to make them look “even” even with multiple coats. Most of the shades in the middle (pinks, reds etc) perform fantastic.

Staying Power: This particular shade wore 4-5 hours before starting to fade away and it was mandatory for me to reapply after eating because there was no hint of it left after that.

Overall, I am impressed with this product and with this range especially considering the affordable price tag, but I would urge you to read reviews for the shades you are eyeing as the performance is not consistent across the board for all shades.

As for this particular shade, it is a great true n*de shade for light- medium skin tone girls. If you are deeper than medium, it may not be the right fit for you. I really like this one and will recommend 🙂
