NYX The “All I’ve Ever Wanted” Box Review

by Dania F.

Hey guys,

Today I will be reviewing the “All I’ve Ever Wanted” Box by NYX Cosmetics. I had received this box as a wedding gift from my friend and I was a makeup beginner back then. This box has been with me through thick and thin and has taught me all that I know now about makeup. (Intense I know… but it’s true!). I still turn to this box everytime I need to recreate a new look. This awesome box literally comes with products that are all I’ve ever wanted. I can create multiple looks by using just this box and nothing else.

Price:

I received this box as a gift, however Ulta sells it for $27.99. I think the price is totally worth the value

My Experience with NYX The “All I’ve Ever Wanted” Box:

It consists of 72 eye shadows, 6 lip colours, 4 blushes, 8 face colours, and contouring and highlighting powders.

Packaging:

This amazing beauty comes in a large black cardboard box with tiny circular holes to reveal some of the eye shadow colours inside. The outside package describes all that is inside very well. A small description of what’s inside consists on the front and a detailed description of what is supposed to be used where, is at the back. All the colours that are depicted on the outside package are a true representation of what’s inside.

The inside box is made of good quality plastic and opens like a book to reveal a huge variety of eye shadows. It also has a big mirror on the other side. The eye shadows tray slides sideways to reveal the rest of the contents – the face powders, blushes, contour and highlighter and the lip colours.

It is great for travelling as well as I always carry this one box and I’m good to go, I’ve travelled with this a bazillion times in the car, on the bus, on a flight as well, and it’s still intact. This baby even survived a huge fall thanks to my little one, but there was not a single crack. So 10 on 10 on the packaging!

Eyes:

There are 72 eye shadows in this beautiful box. All the colours that you can think of are present here. The colours range from deep dark hues to more coral and fun colours. One end of the palette contains all the blacks and greys in every shade possible. The colours slowly transition from blacks to greys to browns and more earthy tones. This is followed by light toned nude colours. There are a lot of bright tones as well. A lot of the shades can be substituted as highlighters, blushes and even brow shades.

All the colours are highly pigmented but very wearable. The palette consists of both matte and shimmer colours as well. I’ve swatched out a few of my favorite eye shadows in the image below.

Cheeks:

There are 4 blushes. One of them is a bright pink, which I hardly use. But the other three are more peachy colours, very suitable for Indian skin tones. I even swirl my brush around in two or three blushes to create a lovely combination of colours. They have a great blush selection.

Lips:

The lip colours are probably the least used in my box, and that is because it’s more of a lip tint or a lip stain as compared to a lip colour. Although they look very bright on the palette, they apply very subtly and are much more lighter on the lips. This is actually a good thing for me, because sometimes I just want to add a pop of colour on my lips, just to give them some life. I just swipe my finger into the colour and rub it on my lips just like a lip balm. They can be worn under lip gloss for a more finished look. There is a colour in there for every skin tone. However, most of my lip colours have suffered fallout from the eyeshadows. They should have had some sort of a cover for the lip colours.

Face:

The face powders are average, as there is just one skin tone and if you don’t belong to that shade, then there’s no point. However, you can use it as a powder to set your makeup. There’s a lovely bronzer as well which is very highly pigmented so I advise you all not to have a very heavy hand with it. The highlight and contour shades are great for beginners. Again, they are suitable to a narrow range of skin tones.

Tools:

The box comes with 4 dual ended sponge applicators and 2 lipstick brushes. The tools are actually completely useless because I use my own brushes to apply any of the makeup. They are in fact a bit of a nuisance as they tend to fall out on opening and closing the box.

Pros of NYX The “All I’ve Ever Wanted” Box:

  • All in one.
  • Travel friendly.
  • Lots of different colours.
  • Great for beginners.
  • Beautiful blushes.
  • Descriptive and helpful packaging.
  • Free from animal testing.

Cons of NYX The “All I’ve Ever Wanted” Box:

  • Some shadows tend to get a bit flaky.
  • Unnecessary tools.
  • Face powders catering to specific skin tones only.
  • Lip colours tend to get dirty.

Would I recommend NYX The “All I’ve Ever Wanted” Box?

I would definitely recommend all the makeup beginners to purchase this. It also makes a great gift!
