My Experience with NYX Vivid Brights Creme Colour Pillow Talk:

This crème eyeshadow comes in a small glass pot with a lid colour-coded according to the shade. The screw-on lid is made of plastic. The bottom of the pot contains additional information such as ingredients and shade name. It does not have any eye shadow applicator or brush. It was encased in plastic when I first got it.

The actual crème is buttery but in a solid form. A small amount can be easily picked up using either fingers or a flat shader brush. It is aptly described as a dusty lilac color. It is a very taupe-y purple shade with grey undertones. It smells a bit like a clay mask, but the scent isn’t overpowering.

I wouldn’t recommend this for precision pattern for a liner or as a cut-crease shade as this will transfer over time. It would not be able to maintain sharp lines; hence, I would recommend to use it as an all-over colour and as a base for the eyelids. A primer is certainly needed – or a setting spray. Even during the arm swatch, it did not dry down completely. It continues to have a buttery, but slightly dried down formula. Contact with eyes should be avoided as much as possible.

Since the texture is like smooth butter, it blends easily with other liquid eye products from NYX. It does not dry down immediately. I have used it as a base for my lids and applied a shimmer shadow on the centre and inner eye to create a soft, diffused look. A darker colour will go great as a crease or transition colour. Since my eyelids are paper thin, this does enhance creasing. Moreover, the skin around my eyes is really dry, and this enhances the dryness even more. Additional products are needed to make this one work. This is a good product, but could have been formulated better. It can be removed easily using makeup wipes or a biphasic point remover.

Pros of NYX Vivid Brights Creme Colour Pillow Talk:

  • Extremely pigmented.
  • Buttery texture makes it easy to apply and blend.
  • Both fingers and brushes can be used for application.
  • Will work great as a base under powder eyeshadows.
  • Product will last a long time.

Cons of NYX Vivid Brights Creme Colour Pillow Talk:

  • Transfers if placed too high on the lid.
  • Cannot be used for a sharp eye line or cut crease.
  • Does not stay on the lids for long on its own.
  • Eyelids need to be primed and mattified or it may transfer more easily if lids are oily.
  • I think it is expensive for 3 gm.
  • It is drying on the eyes. Hence, it will enhance creases and fine lines if not worn with a primer.

Would I Repurchase NYX Vivid Brights Creme Colour Pillow Talk?
I love the shade, but this colour has a longevity problem as well as transfer issues. I bought this product as I thought it would be easy to use as I am not good with eye makeup, but I definitely feel this product needs a setting powder on top, of the same colour or a translucent one; a primer may also work. The positive point is that the pigmentation is good even though it is a dull shade and so it can be used as a lid colour. The same shade in powder form may not give that good color payoff.
