My Experience with NYX Vivid Brights Creme Colour Rebellious Edge:

I like the packaging. It is color-coded and cute. The product offered is quite generous, considering you do not need too much product for eye makeup at once. The pot is made of glass and you can see the product through it; the cap is a color-coded plastic. At the bottom, you can see the name of the product plus the complete ingredient list. Overall, no issues with the packaging. It’s just like a gel eyeliner packaging.

There is some inconsistency in the texture of this range. “Rebellious Edge” is pretty dry. It is not at all creamy or buttery, hence blending it is really hard. My eyelids are pretty normal – neither too dry nor too oily – and yet the product feels very dry soon after application. If I apply it without any primer, my lids end up feeling stretchy. The texture is too hard to blend. It become sort of stiff as soon as I apply it on my eyes.

This cream color has multiple uses. I use it as an all-over shade. I apply a primer on my lids, mix this product with a tiny drop of argan oil (that’s the only way to blend it) and then apply it with my fingers as an eyeshadow. I have used it as my eyeliner too but made my lids stretchy. I applied it under powder shadow, blended with a hint of oil (over a primer) and it gave beautiful results and lasted pretty long too. So, the last way is the best way of using this product – i.e. over a powder shadow.

The formula is cream-based but it does not feel light on the lids, especially when I use it as an eyeliner. Also, the formula does not really dry down completely – like, ever! It does set to a matte finish, but still it continues to transfer, which is annoying. I can avoid touching my eyes but it’s summer and even a little sweat can make the product look messy. It does settle into the fine lines and might be a big fail if your skin is too dry. It might not work best even for oily skin as it tends to transfer even after hours of application.

“Rebellious Edge” is a very pretty shade of purple. I feel this shade makes my brown eyes look more attractive. The intensity of the shade varies according to how you use it. Blending definitely makes it lighter, especially since I use an oil to blend it and applying it directly as an eyeliner keeps it dark. The shade is pigmented and a little product is needed each time.

The staying power is good, but the product keeps losing its intensity with time. It fades evenly and does not become patchy with time. I once took a shower with this on and it didn’t vanish completely; it just faded.

It is not a must-have. This range could have been a great dupe for MAC Paint Pot, but it is not. I just love the cute packaging and beautiful shade and that’s it. Not a fan of anything else. The formula could have been much, much better.

For the pictures, I first applied this as a basic liner on my eyes. By the time I grabbed my blending brush, the product had dried down and I had to apply a dot of argan oil to blend it, that’s why it looks much lighter in the second picture. In the final eye picture, I applied a purple powder shadow over it and it looks so pretty and intensified.
