NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Spicy Review

As I said, my favourite products are lip products! They can brighten up your face so easily and without putting in that much effort. Usually, I reach for a lip stain or gloss during the day, but I went for a party a few days back and was really in the mood for a red. I always keep wearing the same shades, so I thought I would try something different this time and used the NYX Xrteme Lip Cream in the shade Spicy. Let’s see how I liked it 🙂

Packaging:

It looks very similar to the NYX Soft matte lip creams, but I compared them and they are slightly different. The cap of the soft matte is matte, but for the xtreme lip creams, is shiny indicative of the product itself. Also, the design of the cap is a bit different. It has a doe-foot applicator, which I think is okay enough for its purpose. The writing on the front has almost faded on mine which I wasn’t happy about.

My Take on NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Spicy:

Anyway, coming to the product itself, as I said, I have lately been a fan of reds, and this is one I chanced upon, and I do not regret it! NYX lip creams are among the most insanely pigmented lip products you will find though, so if you are expecting a glossy and sheer texture, then you will be surprised. If you are averse to wearing bright shades, then be careful, they are much brighter in person. So, be very careful about choosing the shades, and if possible don’t buy them online, or see swatches.

As for this particular shade, it’s a very pigmented classic blue-based red, which will be flattering on most skin tones. It goes on really smooth, with the help of the applicator, and if you want to tone down the shade, then you may want to use a lip brush to spread it out.

The texture is pretty good, it is not matte like the soft matte lip creams but high shine, which I thought was pretty much the only difference between the two.  I generally prefer matte finish, but since I was going for a party, I thought this was more appropriate! It’s easier to carry these off because this doesn’t settle into fine lines or make your lips appear dry. They last for 4 hours plus if you don’t have any meals, but a meal will leave a red tint behind. The only thing I didn’t like about it is the weird smell it has when it is first applied.

It’s pretty bad but goes away in minutes, but sensitive noses might want to watch out for it.  The camera isn’t able to do justice to the shade, it’s way more red than this in person.

Pros of NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Spicy:

• Very highly pigmented lip cream, covers pigmented lips in a swipe.
• Very smooth texture, easy to apply and spread using applicator.
• Lipstick and gloss combined into one – gives a high shine look.
• Doesn’t settle into fine lines or accentuate them.
• Pretty good staying power.
• This particular shade will suit many skin tones.
• Cruelty free.

Cons of NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Spicy:

• Has a very weird smell at the time of application.
• Not exactly true to color because it’s much brighter in person.

IMBB Rating:

4/5 (for the smell).

Overall, I thought it was a good product and the texture is quite nice if you want to try out lip creams. I want to try out some pinks and nudes from this range maybe. I would recommend it to someone.
