The one thing that is an inseparable part of my daily makeup routine is doing lashes and when it comes to mascara, I believe the drugstore has nailed it big time. Right from Maybelline to Covergirl and L’Oreal (my most favourites), the drugstore has a mascara for eye lash type and budget. So today, the mascara I have here is the NYX Za Za Zu Luscious Volume Mascara. Let’s find out if this baby made a permanent place in my vanity or no.

My Experience with NYX Za Za Zu Luscious Volume Mascara:
I have two holy grail mascaras, both from the drugstore and high end – the Lancôme Grandiose Mascara and the Covergirl Super Sizer. These babies have a special home in my makeup stash and I have gone through numerous tubes of them, but that does not stop me from trying out new mascaras and improving my HG mascara list. So, when I saw this one by NYX, I got it without any second thoughts.
Packaging: This NYX mascara comes in a standard black thick tube packaging. The tube looks stout and cute. The wand of the mascara is in the tube, so I could not show the unused wand in the images. I like the mascara wand and the fact that it is not very huge, makes my life simple. But by no means, it’s a thin tube, in fact, it’s quite bulky. It takes a lot of space on my makeup bag, so this will just be an at-home use for me.
Color: The shade I got is “Blackest Black.” I don’t know why, but I can never settle for a mascara that is not the blackest black. Since I have black eyes, I think black mascara flatters them the most.
Formulation: The formula of this mascara is what I prefer. Yes, it’s more on the wet side. I do not like dry formulations because it does tend to get dry anyway after the mascara is opened. Although this does have a wet formula, but the wand just has enough product in it for application. Although this does not hold my lash curl all day, but the performance is pretty decent.
Longevity: The “wow feature” is that this baby stays put all day! I have tested it for a good 13 hours and it looked the same as it did when I had applied it in the morning. It does not flake away or budge at all.
Quality: I am quite impressed with this mascara! I had no problem using the wand to apply mascara on my bottom lashes as well. There was no clumping, smudging nor flaking all day! I’ve tried mascaras that irritated my eyes and made my lash line just itch but I had none of that with this mascara. The mascara came off so easily just using my makeup remover.

Cons of NYX Za Za Zu Luscious Volume Mascara:
- Not available in India.
- A little bulky tube.
- Does not give “falsies” like effect.
- Does not add as much volume as I would like.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase NYX Za Za Zu Luscious Volume Mascara?
I really like the NYX Za Za Zu Luscious Volume Mascara and will be using this tube completely. I am not sure if I will repurchase this baby or not, when I am done with this tube. If you like drugstore mascaras, I will recommend trying this mascara since it’s affordable and performs well.
