O.P.I. Color To Diner For Nail Polish

Hi all,

In a sudden change of taste I have started to like nail polishes a lot, does it happen to you as well…like you have phases when you are more focussed on skincare, suddenly switch to body care, perfumes, make-up etc. etc. Ah women!!! We are blessed with these qualities aren’t we? So I’ve thought of reviewing a very beautiful nail lacquer from OPI today i.e. Color to Diner For it belongs to OPI’s Fall 2011 Touring America Collection…yeah that’s the name they’ve given to that shade…I find the OPI names very interesting and creative it give a whole new personality to the nail polish.

About OPI:

OPI Products is a nail lacquer manufacturer located in North Hollywood, California. OPI, originally named Odontorium Products Inc., was a small dental supply company purchased by George Schaeffer in 1981. Shortly after taking over the company, Schaeffer was joined by Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI’s Executive Vice President and Artistic Director. Schaeffer and Weiss-Fischmann partnered with R. Eric Montgomery, a biochemist, and created an acrylic system that Schaeffer sold door-to-door to local nail salons. They closed the dental sales and focused entirely on nail products changing the name to OPI Products Inc.

My Experience with O.P.I. Color To Diner For Nail Polish:

Well as I said earlier I have suddenly found new respect and love for nail care and because of this I have started buying a couple of products to pamper my nails…though my nails take their own sweet time to grow I am trying to give them all the support they need to be healthy. As usual while browsing I came across various brands of nail colors that have flooded the Indian market, I came across OPI in various online shopping sites. Although I have seen OPI nail polishes earlier than this but something was holding me back…that something is the price INR 670…aargh!!! I was finding it hard to convince myself to buy this, but finally I decided to take the plunge and ordered it despite that price tag. There were lots of colors to choose from but my heart wanted a warm red and I found exactly that in Color to Diner For. Since it was an online buy I didn’t have the privilege to see the colour in person and all the reviews by the Bhaaleloog (good people) came to my rescue and the swatches were immense help to me. I ordered it and as soon as it arrived, you won’t believe Iswatched it on my nails…he he

The bottle is quite big and sturdy and has 15ml of product in it so that justifies the price for me or even better priced than a lot other nail polish brand. A simple math e.g. Loreal Colour Riche Nail Polish- Price Rs.225 for 5ml so 5×3=15 so its 225×3=675 and OPI 15ml=670 for me its cheaper…what say ladies?

I was looking for a warm red not a hot red so this was a clear choice. The nail polish has very fine gold and red shimmer in a cranberry red base. The application is super smooth with the OPI Pro Wide brush which is flat, wide and medium in length and this make the application complete in just 2 strokes for me. The polish dries super-fast and the second coat can be applied within 2-3 minutes of the first one. The first coat was a bit streaky but highly pigmented and as soon as I applied the second coat I just couldn’t stop looking at my nails *preen* it looks very bright in daylight and darker indoors. The formula is very good (the world agrees) and does not chip for 3 days without top-coat and with top-coat you can expect 6-7days of non-chipping and it’s a clear winner. I am loving it too much and have no regrets for paying that price and planning to by a few more shades that I have zeroed on *happydance*
