I had heard a lot about Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) lip tars, but never possessed any. So, recently when they had a sale, I decided to pick up a couple of shades. Today, I am reviewing the shade “Memento.” This shade is from their newly-launched collection Cosplay. Read on to find out more about this shade.
$18, but I got it on discount.

My Experience with Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Memento Lip Tar:
Packaging: This lipstick comes in a tiny tube which looks unlike any other lip product that I own. In fact, when I opened the package (I had ordered online) in front of my 4-year-old kid, she was elated that I had ordered something for her; you see she thought this is a poster color tube with a tiny brush 😛
The tube is made of transparent plastic which makes it easy to see the contents inside. The tube holds 0.33 oz (10 ml) of the product which may seem too little at first glance, but then, a very little goes a long way. The nozzle is perfectly sized to release a little product at a time.
The accompanying lip brush is a tiny little thing which does its job pretty well, but I must admit it is a tedious process applying the lip tar as you need to be careful with a liquid lip product.
Shade/Pigmentation: Memento is a milky peachy coral shade. It is not a shade which everyone can carry off. It tends to wash me out, but it could be a nice peachy nude for more light skinned beauties.
The lip tar is highly pigmented and you only need a tiny bead to cover the lips. I would not recommend layering on as it tends to get a bit clumpy and patchy with more layers.
Texture/Finish: This is a liquid lipstick and has a creamy texture. It is slightly runny but nothing too difficult to work with. It spreads easily on the lips. It settles down to a beautiful sheen finish. I did not find the lip tar to be drying on my lips but it might be bothersome for those with really dry lips. It is recommended to exfoliate your lips prior to application as this lip tar has a tendency to highlight chapped lips. I would also recommend using a lip liner as the lip tar does feather a bit. This lip tar has a strong minty fragrance which I personally do not mind.
Lasting Power: I found the lasting power to be around 3-4 hours with some light snacking and meals. It also transfers a bit. This is a light shade and hence does not leave behind any stain.
Pros of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Memento Lip Tar:
- Creamy texture which glides smoothly on lips.
- Strong pigmentation.
- Cute and handy packaging.
- Nice finish with a sheen.
Cons of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Memento Lip Tar:
- This shade might not be suitable for all skin tones.
- Gets clumpy if layered on.
- Average lasting power.
- Might be drying for some.
- Exfoliation of lips needed prior to application.
- Tends to feather a bit.
