Today I am going to review a Stained Gloss from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. These glosses are the sheer version of Lip Tars, but are not fully sheer. I have seen a few more shades that look very nice. Please read on to know more about Rhythm Box which is described as ‘Translucent Burgundy’ by the brand.
Inspired by lighting gels and stained glass, STAINED GLOSS™ combines the high impact color of Lip Tar™ with a translucent glossy finish that’s totally ready-to-wear.
Contains Hemp Oil & Soy-Derived Vitamin E, for a finish that feels as good as it looks! Silicone-Free. Paraben-Free, courtesy of refreshing Peppermint Oil.
100% Vegan & Gluten-Free.
Apply stained STAINED GLOSS™ liberally, over LIP TAR™ with the OCC #010 Precision Lip Brush, or alone by finger, brush or any desired application method.
USD 18 for 0.33/10 ml
The gloss comes in a tube unlike most glosses that come in bottles with a wand. This is an additional expense to get a good brush and it does dispense more than you need, so one has to be very careful.
My Experience with Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Rhythm Box Lip Tar Stained Gloss:
I have heard many good things about Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and their groundbreaking Lip Tars, but I had never used them. Since there are some reviews on IMBB, I always wanted to try one. Last weekend, on mother’s day, my kid wanted to gift me something. So, while strolling at Nordstrom, I saw these. The testers had a couple of colors and once I saw this I made up my mind to get this shade as it can go with Indian attires very well.
The Lip Tar Stained Gloss in Rhythm Box is a brilliant fuchsia shade that can be adorned by women of any skin tone since it’s a universally flattering shade. This has been described as a burgundy shade by the brand’s website but, on my lips, it looks like a berry pink shade. Inside the tube, it looks like a burgundy-red shade.
The Lip Tar Stained Gloss needs a brush for application as well as a lip liner as you can see it in the pictures that they are about to bleed and spread on the corners of my lips. I need a good lip brush in my life now! The product is moderately hydrating and looks beautiful equally during days or night.
This gloss does not accentuate lip lines and makes them look fuller. Those who shy away from bright colors can wear this as a stain looking equally flattering. It lasts for 3-4 hours on my lips and leaves a nice stain. It transfers a bit since it’s not a matte lipstick, but all of the negative points get neutralized because of the potency of its color. There is a slight minty smell that goes away after a few minutes.
