OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner Review

OGX creates some seriously yummy-smelling and effective hair care products.  I had some points to use up on an online shopping site and I decided to give this a try. They apparently pick the coconuts for this product from the Philippines and the milk extracted from a mature coconut is a reservoir of antioxidants and is a delicious conditioner, de-tangler and sweet source of shine.

My Experience OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner:

You could call me an OGX junkie. I love their products for their delicious smells and attractive packaging. This one is a tropical treat. It is like tender coconut soufflé in a bottle! The smell is amazingly scrumptious *happy*

Texture: Creamy and thick.

Spreadability:  As with most OGX conditioners, this didn’t provide me with too much slip. That may be because they are not loaded with silicones, but then I need that slip because I need to do all my detangling with its help. It is thick, yes, but somehow that doesn’t do anything for the slip. You would expect a thick conditioner to easily detangle your hair right? *disappointed*

OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner

Job: In spite of the lack of slip, if I put in that extra effort to detangle my hair with this and leave it on for a couple of minutes, my hair does feel a little moisturized. I cannot stand the smell of coconut oil on hair. So, I thought this product with its weightless coconut oils would give me the benefits without having to get a smelly oil massage, but the nourishment is not as much as I would want it to be. My curls don’t have perfect definition and I do see some frizz and flyways and that my curls are not holding together. It may be because of the egg protein. Proteins applied topically like that tend to not do much justice to my hair. I have heard many curlies swear by this product. Maybe it is good for curls 3B and above. Overall, just an average product in terms of efficiency for my hair.*disappointed again*

OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner

Packaging:  Fat sturdy white bottle in plastic. Apparently, the bottles are manufactured from recycled resin. The prints are done using environmental inks and not from petrochemicals.

Pros of OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner:

  • It smells of tropical coconutty goodness.
  • Smell lingers in the hair for about 5 hours after the wash.
  • Thick and creamy.
  • Free from sulphates and parabens.

Cons of OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner:

  • Not that great in terms of nourishment and hydration.
  • Doesn’t have a great slip in spite of being thick and thus detangling isn’t that easy.
  • Doesn’t give my curls much definition.
  • Doesn’t control frizz to the degree that I want.

IMBB Rating:

2/5

Would I Repurchase OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner?

No, I don’t hate it that much, but then I don’t love it either.

Do I Recommend OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner?

My friend who has straight hair adores this product, so women with straight hair can give this a try since straight hair doesn’t require as much hydration as curly hair.

  1. You should get the Rainforest Coconut Hair Oil from The Body Shop! Smells amazingly good and not at all like something like Parachute/Vatika or whatever 😛 I was about to buy this for my frizzy, curly hair. . You saved me! Thanks 😀

  2. Suggest a good conditioner which I can get in India anjana. . I too have curly hair.waiting eagerly for your reviews in leave in curl produproducts.thanks 🙂

  3. I love Pantene Silky Smooth conditioner the best among Indian brands. Among leave ins, I have currently left all creams for Loreal’s Mythic oil. It leaves my hair soooo moisturised, defined and frizz free. I think I have found my HG leave in 🙂
