Olay 2 in 1 Advanced Ribbons Firming Butter Body Wash Review

Hola people!!!

What’s up? I am just studying for my exam tomorrow, which is, Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics. This is a paper, where our examiners don’t give any justifications for flunking students, on the point that the answers which we write are utter rubbish (which, by the way, are proper reporting and analyzing of the practical life case studies, and which mostly bounces off our heads). So, here I am, understanding, analyzing, jotting down, making combinations, and thinking both from the view point of a chartered accountant and the client, what could be the possible scenarios. Phew!! That’s hardcore finance my dearies, and that, is what my main stream is. Pretty boring, you may find it weird, but I enjoy this field of mine too. You can say, it’s an alter ego of mine, one at IMBB is a fashionista and makeup and skin care junkie, and the other is a hardcore finance professional. Cool, I sound like Hannah Montana now (Disclaimer : This was the only, I repeat, only show and time when I liked Miley Cirus) 😛

Coming to today’s product, I am reviewing a body wash, Olay 2 in 1 Advanved Ribbons Firming Butter Advanced Moisture Body Wash. Such a looooooooooon name. This was the reason, I probably forgot to see the “firming butter” part and came back home skipping, with it. Anyway, now that the damage was done, since people my age do not generally use products which scream “firming and toning,” but I thought of giving it a try, because no matter how much I love Olay Body Washes, I admit they have a tendency to make very tall claims, many of which are laughably untrue, so, I never take those seriously. Let’s get on with the review to find out how this one fared on me.

Packaging/Quantity/Price/Description:

The Olay 2 in 1 Firming Butter Body Wash come in a lovely peach and orange colored packaging, in an upside down bottle, with a flip open cap. It is quite bulky, and from my past experiences, I can say that the cap is very sturdy enough. You can see in the pictures, that when I tried to take the picture of the open cap, the product literally threatened to come out in a butter volcano, which looks pretty, but will be very messy outside the shower. And I had taken these pictures right after I had purchased it, when it was full up to the brim. 😛 So, the cap has to be sturdy, unless you want a lava of lathering butter inside your bag *hihi* Quite travel friendly, although, bulky. I would have really appreciated smaller variants too.

Also, a plus point is, that the product does not accumulate at the mouth of the bottle. This is a very good point, as mostly if the product accumulates, it becomes sticky, and makes it difficult to open the flip cap, over time and usage. So, thumbs up here too. 😀

It comes at a price of Rs. 220/- for a size of 295 ml, which is pretty affordable for a brand like Olay. This bottle is easily going to last you a long time.

My Experience with Olay 2 in 1 Advanced Ribbons Firming Butter Body Wash:

As soon as you open the bottle in your shower, the first thing which you notice is the smell. I cannot decipher whether it is fruity or flowery, it is just a typical Olay body wash smell with it’s own mild deodorant kind of twist. In fact, I remember using Olay soaps a long time back, when these body washes had not come into the market, and it smells exactly like those soaps. In short, it smells heavenly. The fragrance is beautiful, and you will feel the beauty with it.

It is very very creamy, but not heavy. There is a difference, as I simply despise the body washes, which, in the name of moisturization, leave a greasy film on skin and are too heavy. This one, on the other hand, feels creamy, but soft and light, no heaviness. A small amount is required on the loofah to generate ample lather to cover and clean the whole body. You can also use hands, but I would recommend using loofah, as it not only saves product, but also gives your body a mild exfoliation and massage everyday.

After stepping out of the shower, my skin felt moisturized, and not greasy or sticky. My skin felt smooth, and I did not feel the need for my body lotion even, (but still I apply it, because I love it’s smell too, Nivea Express Hydration 😛 ). Very dry skinned ladies will require body lotion, however, this will not leave the skin insanely dry or uncomfortable.

You can use it as a shaving lotion too. I have used it with my Gillette Venus Razor, and I am just loving the soft and smooth results. *happydance*

Now, the firming part. I have been using it for over ten days and I haven’t seen any change of this kind in my body. Not that I expect to, because the fact that I am in my 20s, I may not see any kind of change. So, these changes might be more noticeable in women above 40 years of age, that too over continuous usage of a month or two.

Summing up:

Pros of Olay 2 in 1 Advanced Ribbons Firming Butter Body Wash:

  • Creamy body wash, but not greasy.
  • Moisturizes skin.
  • Can be used for shaving.
  • Lovely fragrance, which stays for a long time.
  • Very good quantity at an affordable price.
  • Quantity is going to last a long time.
  • Skin feels soft after every use.

Cons of Olay 2 in 1 Advanced Ribbons Firming Butter Body Wash:

  • Not very travel friendly because of the bulky size.
  • Very dry skinned ladies will need body lotion (I recommend everyone to use lotion, no matter how moisturizing this maybe).
  • Did not see any firming effect on me at least (I wasn’t even expecting to 😛 )

IMBB Rating and Recommendation:

I rate Olay 2 in 1 Advanced Ribbons Firming Butter Advanced Moisture Body Wash 4.5/5.  It is a quality body wash within the budget price range, and is going leave your body soft and smooth.  Yes, I will recommend. I may repurchase if I do not take a fancy to some other new variant. Right now, I have got two more body washes lined up for finishing – Nivea Frangipani and Oil and Dove Fresh One.
