Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Face Tonic Review

Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Face Tonic

Hi Gals,

How are you doing today? I am back again with a new product in my skin care regimen. I like Ole Henriksen stuff, especially their walnut scrub and night invigorating gel.  They are an integral part of my skin care regimen till date. I feel incomplete without their night cream which is my HG night cream as of now! Anyway, I cannot do without toners in summers.  Recently, while hunting for a toner, I came across this Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Face Tonic.  The claims and the list of ingredients tempted me to buy it at once. Read on further to know how it worked for me.

My Take on Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Face Tonic:

Summers do not treat my skin well. My skin looks oily with prominent open pores. I was looking for a decent toner that can gently sweep away dirt and oil and can maintain the hydration level of my skin as well. I feel slightly disappointed to reveal that this product turned out to be average/poor.

This colorless face tonic claims to work as a toner and mild exfoliant while soothing and calming skin. We need to apply generous amount of tonic on face and let it dry prior to using moisturizer or face makeup. I simply pat it on my face post cleansing and it surely gives me cool and soothing sensation, but the issue is that it always leaves a shiny layer on my skin even after several minutes which feels slightly sticky upon touching. I feel it shrinks my pores effectively without drying out my skin, but that shiny layer somehow gives me greasy look overall and I need to blot it out with mineral powder. This is highly disappointing from a toner.

Thankfully, it does not clog my pores or accentuate them. It seems neutral on my acne-prone skin as it neither cleared my blemishes nor accentuated them but, that sticky and shiny layer definitely tests my patience while blending moisturizer or primer onto my skin. I mean even if it treats my acne or blemishes, how should I use it when it leaves a shiny and sticky layer on my skin? I cannot think of going out with greasy skin and wiping my face every half an hour. It only helps me in relieving my skin from scorching sun, just one swipe gives a soothing and cooling relief.  Other than that, I feel all claims are not true.

I use it when I am sitting at home, I cannot leave home with this toner on my face unless I keep face powder handy. I feel my skin looks much healthy and shine free before using this toner. Maybe it will suit dry/combination skin gals, but it is definitely not for oily/greasy skin. I would say skip it unless you have super dry skin.

Pros of Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Face Tonic:

• A soothing, calming toner infused with goodness of witch hazel, aloe extract etc.
• It definitely helps in calming and relieving wilted skin.
• It shrinks pores up to a good extent.
• It is not drying on skin.
• It does not cause any breakouts and does not accentuate any skin issue.

Cons of Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Face Tonic:

  • I feel nearly all the claims are exaggerated.
  • The moment we dab it on skin, it leaves a shiny layer.
  • It definitely shrinks pores but then my skin looks so oily within an hour, which is highly disappointing.
  • It might help in clearing acne/blemishes but then how to fix sticky/shiny cast on skin which tends to give greasy look.
  • It is not going to give any shine-free matte skin as my face looks much better and clean prior to using this toner.
  • It’s a highly expensive deal taking into account the effect it has on my skin.

Well, I am really surprised who was impressed with this tonic as it is rated above average. I am still figuring out how to finish it off? I can’t use it regularly unless I sit at home.  The best usage is to dab it on face while going out in the scorching sun as it definitely helps in replenishing moisture in my skin.  The only good part about this tonic is that it does not clog pores or cause breakouts even with that camphor and strong smell. I hope you know my rating, I would give it 2/5 as a toner and overall product.
