Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster Review

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster Review

Hello ladies,

How is everyone doing? Today, I am reviewing Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster. I received this one in a set a long time ago, but I delayed trying it as I thought my skin care regimen was more than sufficient for me. Little did I know I was missing out on the miraculous ingredient in my regime, vitamin C. After doing all the research on using vitamin C for the skin, I could not wait to see how this serum works on my skin.

Product Description:

An  antioxidant-rich brightening and nourishing serum enriched with vitamin C.  Formulated with a proprietary five-source vitamin C complex to support natural collagen production, brighten, and minimize fine lines, this must-have serum defends from environmental aggressors and free radical damage, leaving skin healthy and protected. It is enriched with green tea extract and sodium hyaluronate to nurture and nourish. This lightweight and oil-free formula quickly absorbs into skin while the iconic uplifting citrus scent pampers your skin and your senses.

How the complex works:

  • Orange extract supports natural cell turnover and purifies.
  • Grapefruit extract brightens with antiseptic and aromatic qualities.
  • Rose hips seed extract heals, repairs damage, and soothes.
  • Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate is very stable, safe, and non-irritating – the key to production of collagen.
  • Ester-c (Calcium Ascorbate) is a highly stable natural form of vitamin C found naturally in the body.

$48 for 1 oz of product.

Proprietary Five-Source Vitamin C Complex: Brightens, supports natural collagen, firms, and provides essential antioxidant protection.  Green Tea Extract: Soothes and protects against free radical damage.  Sodium Hyaluronate: Binds moisture to the skin and replenishes lost hydration.  Vitamin E: Heals, restores, and nourishes.  Water , Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Calcium Acerbate, Sorbitol, Glycerin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Euphrasis Offinalis Extract, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Oleth-20, Hydroxyethylcellulose, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Benzophenone-4, Sodium Hyaluronate, Thioctic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Citric Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Limonene, Linalool, Citral, Fragrance.

It comes in a clear glass bottle with a bright orange label and a black pump dispenser. The packaging is very sturdy, but I am always scared of carrying glass bottles with me when I travel; I have had horrible experiences with glass packaging in the past. I have a problem with its pump; it squirts out a lot of product in a single pump, but as I only need to apply a tiny amount, a lot of the product goes to waste.

My Experience with Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster:

I have used a couple of products from Ole Henriksen and I am very impressed with the brand, their products are paraben, sulfate and petrochemicals free.

On a daily basis, our skin deals with a lot of different factors from the progressing age to adverse weather conditions, from UV exposure to the harsh chemicals we use daily. There are certain factors that cannot be reversed like our age, but we can certainly do something about the environmental factors that affect our skin. We definitely need to give special attention to our skin in today’s stressful and hectic lifestyle. I have oily and acne-prone skin and I am compelled to use products with salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide to keep my acne under control. The texture of my skin has taken the brunt of all such harsh ingredients. I was looking around to find a product that could protect and provide the lost luster back to my skin. I am happy to have found the answer in this serum.

Truth serum is an orange color liquid which is runny in consistency. It has a citrusy scent which goes away with the absorption of product. I apply it daily after cleansing my face in the morning and night. I need only a tiny amount to cover my face and neck. It feels very light in texture and gets absorbed quickly into the skin. Afterwards, I apply my moisturizer over it.

The first few times I applied the serum, I did notice some changes. My skin looked somewhat brighter and tighter, but it was not anything worth spending this much on. Frankly, I was quite disappointed as my expectations were quite high, but I still kept on using the product as I knew that this serum has some amazing ingredients besides vitamin C like green tea, grapefruit, rose hip, etc., which will definitely help in preventing any further damage to my skin. I started using this in November and have been continuously using it every day and night. I have almost finished the bottle now. I am more than pleased to inform you ladies that my initial judgment about the truth serum was wrong. My skin has definitely improved in past two months.

When I wake up, I see a visibly brighter and clear skin and it feels soft and supple. My acne scars and pigmentation is getting lighter by the day and I also see a reduction in the size of my pores. I still have to deal with acne and oily skin, but I don’t expect this serum to change a problem that is hormonal. All I know is that this does not exaggerate my skin issues. I have not had any irritation or peeling with this serum. Along with the serum, I am using my regular products.  The only thing I have added is a sunscreen in the mornings as I know that although vitamin C prevents UV damage, but we still need to add sunscreen for ample and adequate protection from sun rays.

The results are not only visible to me but my family and colleagues also, who have been complimenting me. I regularly video chat with my family in India and a few days ago, during the chat, my parents asked me why am I still wearing makeup at such a late hour of the night and I was elated to hear that because it was not makeup, just my bare skin. I am happy that I stuck with this product and now I am basking in the glory of a healthy and glowing skin.

Pros of Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster:

  • Brightens and tightens the skin.
  • Reduces scars and pigmentation.
  • Reduces the size of pores.
  • Nice fragrance.
  • Feels gentle on the skin.
  • Hydrates and nourishes the skin.
  • Paraben free.

Cons of Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster:

  • It is expensive.
  • You have to be patient and use it regularly for a few months to see the results.
  • Pump on the bottle needs to be fixed.

IMBB Rating:

Although the Truth Serum is an amazing product, the price is exorbitant for the amount of product. With regular use, you go through one bottle in about 2 months and personally I do not feel comfortable spending this much money every two months. I have heard great things about homemade vitamin C serum, but never used it. I will definitely try to make my own serum once this bottle finishes and compare the results.

    1. Hey Neetu.. Yes i was talking about this serum the other day. It is very pricey as the bottle will finish up quickly. So i am definitely going to make the serum at home. I am hoping that one will work well too. The problem with skin care products is that they take a long time to show the results and with our skin type its even harder. *cry*
