Online Shopping Experience with L’Occitane en Provence
Not all of us live in metro or metropolitan cities (read as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Banglore and Ludhiana); some of us live where we barely manage to call “our place” a “town” and thanks to IMBB, the wish-list increases everyday. L’Occitane is just one such name, but thankfully, they do have an online store and I have a debit card.
They are offering free delivery up to 31st of Oct’2011 to celebrate e-commerce, otherwise you have to pay the delivery charges based on the quantity that needs to be shipped.
The site, at least according to me, is easily navigable. You can view products on the basis of ingredients or your concern or just the usual categories of bath, body, face, lips, makeup, etc. I was ordering for the first time, so I placed a small order so that I could find out from which place they ship the online orders and how much time the whole process takes. My order was shipped from Khan Market, Delhi. The address sounded almost like an oxymoron. Let me just say, I love those people at L’Occitane. I love every brand/shop/retailer who gives me samples. I am actually happier with the samples than I am with whatever I bought. I do like to think it is the same case with everyone.
Anyway, L’Occitane offers travel sizes, but they are only in fragrances (EDP/EDT) and not in any lotions or shower gels. I was expecting them to have everything in travel sizes that way, people like us who don’t have a store nearby can still try things out without thinking about it too much. I can easily forgive them for this because they do send out samples, but sometimes, using a product once or twice is not enough.
Payment Options:
As of now, they only accept credit and debit cards, no net banking!
Order Placement and Shipping:
After you have selected the items, you have to select the shipping method. Currently, there is only one method i.e., standard which takes 7-8 days. You can choose the gift wrap option as well where the details of payment and pricing will be hidden. I got a mail confirming my order with the invoice. My order was dispatched the next day and I was supplied with the courier details (Blue Dart, in my case). I got the package in 3 days.
The package came in a small box (small order=small box) and it carried my name and the sender’s address on both the sides. It was completely wrapped and no scope was left for the package to be damaged by water. Loads of cello-tape was wrapped around as well.
It took me and my thermocol cutter 15 minutes to open the package.
The box was smelling good and everything inside it too. Everything was wrapped in bubble wrap and that was in turn wrapped in butter paper with a stamp of L’Occitane.
The prices are a little high because everything is manufactured in France and then it is imported to India.
The only con is the lack of travel-size packages in all the categories and no net banking option are the only cons, rest of the things I love love love!
