OPI Nail Lacquer – Gargantuan Green Grape Review

OPI Nail Lacquer – Gargantuan Green Grape Review

Hi my beautiful friends,

Hope all of you are enjoying summers! Today, I am here to share a pastel green nail paint from OPI which is getting my continuous love and attention these days after “Do you Lilac It.” I agree these pastel shades are often tricky on our Asian skin, but still we love them, isn’t it?  I spotted this “green grape” shade and “do you lilac it”, lavender OPI nail paint some time back and since then they are placed on top of my nail paint stash and now I am tempted to get other pastel shades from OPI’s collection! Anyway, please read on further to know more about OPI Gargantuan Green Grape Nail Lacquer.

OPI Gargantuan Green Grape

Price:

$7-$9 for 0.5 Fl Oz (15 ml), price may vary store to store.

Packaging:

This milky pastel green nail lacquer comes in a sturdy glass packaging with classy black cap which is wow factor of whole packaging for me! It is slightly runny as compared to other OPI nail lacquers and I need at least 3-4 coats for buildable, clean, opaque finishing! OPI nail lacquer packaging is travel friendly and free of DBP, Toluene and formaldehyde.

My Experience with OPI Nail Lacquer – Gargantuan Green Grape:

This gargantuan green grape is a pastel green, non-shimmery milky shade to me which is slightly runny in texture as compared to other saucy OPI nail paints in my stash! Like any pastel shade, it is tricky on my light Asian skin which neither brightens up my skin tone nor makes it look darker. It works fair on my light skin thankfully.

I am surprised to notice that it looks a bit streaky and uneven in first two swipes. I need 3-4 swipes for buildable coverage as well as clean finishing.  It also takes a good amount of time to dry up unless I blow air on my hands. This is my first OPI nail paint which takes multiple swipes to give clean finishing and pigmentation, and it is a slightly messy task for mums like me. Moreover, I always noticed multiple coats often chip and peel really fast as compared to single/double coats on my nails.

However, I am more impressed to see that this shade and almost every OPI nail lacquer gives salon like finishing on nails without any top coat or base coat application.  I can’t tell you how much I adore this green grape shade, which is yummy-licious delicious and soothes my eye pupil as well.

Moreover, Green color is well known for relieving and soothing our eye pupil, do you remember all green curtains, green eye bandages or soothing green ambience around hospitals? I psychologically feel that green shade dilates and soothes my eye pupil which in turn improves my vision!

By the way, it is impressive that this pastel green shade manages to survive 6-7 days without fading or chipping a bit on my nails irrespective of my daily house hold tasks which always take toll on my skin and nails! However, it starts peeling by the second week though its shine and glow does not fade at all till it comes off completely. Overall, I love this shade which is a refreshing change from the usual deeper shades, especially in summers. I feel lazy to put it on as it takes multiple swipes while I also need to hide it from my notorious toddler who is always ready to imitate my moves and provoke her dad to mess with me 😛 I would highly recommend this shade to every gal, it is a tricky color, but worth a try! I would love to get it again and again!

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of OPI Nail Lacquer – Gargantuan Green Grape:

  • A milky pastel green shade apt for summers.
  • It is a non-shimmery, slightly runny in texture shade, will suit every light Asian skin tone.
  • It gives a glossy, clean finish on my nails irrespective of using a base coat or top coat.
  • It manages to survive 6-7 days without fading or chipping.
  • The glossy shine and finish stays longer even when the nail paint starts chipping off.
  • Travel-friendly and mess-free packaging.

Cons of OPI Nail Lacquer – Gargantuan Green Grape:

  • It looks goopy and watery in the first two swipes, I need 3-4 swipes for a neat and glossy finish.
  • Takes quite a lot of time to dry completely in between each coat.
  • It starts chipping off by 7th-8th day.
  • It’s a tricky shade.

Overall, I love this shade though I really have a hard time with it.  Thankfully, even after multiple swipes. it comes off easily in one single stroke of nail paint remover without leaving any pale or cast on my nails. I need at least 20 peaceful minutes from my “messy” life to wear it, which is simply mission impossible! Morever, Aadya is growing big and tending to gravitate towards my hobbies and interests 😛 which often fetches me sound lectures from her dad as he is not prepared to tolerate another makeup junkie at home (in progress) 😛  I would love to get it again and again, especially in summers! For me, this green grape gets 4/5, I deducted marks for the messy application involved and multiple swipes needed, which bothers me.
