I recently purchased two nail paints from OPI. I got the shades “Over the Taupe” and “Barefoot in Barcelona.” To know more about these nail paints and how they fared for me, read on further.

My Experience with OPI Over the Taupe and Barefoot in Barcelona Nail Lacquers:

The nail polishes come in the standard OPI shape bottle with minimal information given on it. The bottom of the bottle has a peel-off label which contains the shade name and number, while the inside has the ingredients. The black plastic cap has the brand name on it. The brush of the nail polish is medium sized; not too large and not too small. The body of the bottle is made of glass, and is quite sturdy. I bought these two shades as I wanted a break from my matte nail paints. I was looking for everyday glossy shades, and saw the swatches for these shades online. Knowing the popularity of OPI, I decided to purchase these.

Over the Taupe:
Over the Taupe, as the name suggests, is a taupe n*de brown shade. In daylight, the colour seems like a very pretty brown that appears almost n*de on my skin tone. In artificial light, the “taupe-iness” can be seen. I see this shade working for all skin tones. It is quite a unique shade. The application of this nail polish is fairly easy. A single coat gives an almost opaque coverage, so much so that it can be worn without a second coat, but a second coat provides a more opaque finish and brings out the true taupe shade.

Barefoot in Barcelona:
I was a bit apprehensive while purchasing this shade online, as I do have pigmentation near my nails. I usually avoid lighter shades as they clash with the pigmentation. When I swatched the shade, I was a bit disappointed as I was expecting it to be darker, but after applying it on my nails, I fell in love with the colour. It is a dusky rose colour, suitable for everyday use. For this shade, two coats minimum are required to bring out the opaque colour.

Coming to the longevity, these nail polishes does not chip easy. They last for a good four to five days, after which the colour comes off due to nail growth. Overall, I was highly satisfied with this purchase.
