Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo Review

Have any of you dreamt of a holiday in say Hawaii or Mauritius with a pitcher of margaritas , some delicious coconut milk sherbet or pina colada , a great book , and resting in a hammock in a huge sun hat? Well I wake up from those dreams often , then realise I`m not a bond girl and head off to Faux Pas to see , what`s new , and whether Grecian fashion tips are up yet on the blog. 😛 Moving on…this shampoo that I`m about to review today promises an exotic trip to the tropics . It claims to have a luxuriously creamy hydrating formula that promises to leave hair moisturized , shiny and super soft.

I double checked the ingredients to see whether they have actually put in some Coconut oil (Cocos nucifera oil) , egg proteins (albumen ) , hydrolyzed milk protein – like they have promised on the label , and I was pleased to see that they have. They have added panthenol (Panthenol is the alcohol analog of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) and is thus a provitamin of B5) as well – which is known to have softening properties.

Fragrance :
I think every Body Shop or Organix lover worth her beauty obsession , shall admit that organix products have heavenly fragrances – very authentic and earthy ones and sometimes delightfully like caramel flavored desserts. The organix argan oil and shea butter shampoo that I have tried previously had this beautiful caramel and sweet milk chocolate dessert fragrance – and this Coconut milk shampoo has an aromatic sweet freshly prepared coconut milk fragrance – which gives me an undeniable thirst for virg*n Pina Colada

Price:
625 INR for 385 ml. The quantity lasts me for a good 2 ½ to 3 months .

Texture:
The shampoo has a thick texture and is of a white pearlescent colour . It lathers enough to clean the scalp of sweat and grime residue.

So did the coconut milk shampoo truly give me a pseudo-tropical holiday experience?

My take on Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo:

So after clicking pictures of my Russian doll shaped Organix bottle like it was my Grazia model , I proceeded to determine whether it stood up to it`s claims or not. I have been using this shampoo for the past 4 weeks , and I must say I like how it gives off that aromatic sweet coconut milk fragrance everytime I shampoo – and if paired with spa bath products , it`d give the most enchanting bathing experience. My hair became softer and smoother after I restarted my whole sulphate-free hair journey (I had started with the body shop rainforest range , then , took a hiatus from the regime) ,and I think I will stick to the sulphate free regime for as long as I can to keep the health of my hair intact. The co-wash method , alas , didn’t work for my 1b (straight to wavy ) hair type , and left my scalp greasy , so this sulphate free shampoo which doesn’t rob my piggy bank , came to my rescue.

I wish the fragrance lingered after the wash though , cause I have grown quite fond of Organix fragrances. Since the shampoo already contains albumen, I don’t need to do my stinky egg hair masque very often . The coconut oil and milk protein in the shampoo hydrates my strands and balances out the dryness in the lengths and clears out the oiliness on the scalp effectively. The shampoo removes hair oil pretty well , however if you oil your hair too heavily , you would need more than one wash to clear out all of it. I have attached a picture of how my hair looked after washing with this shampoo and conditioning with my Organix argan oil masque , and it did give a good healthy shine to my hair. I have also noticed that I tend to have less to negligible hairfall when I wash my hair say every 2 days and clear out the sweat and dust accumulated in the scalp , rather than leaving hair unwashed for days like some people recommend.

Pros of Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo:

  • Healthy , nourished hair with a protein boost from albumen and hydrolysed milk protein.
  • Sulphate free – which was the reason I chose Organix in the first place ( It has Sodium C-14-16 olefin sulphonate instead. ).
  • Cost- effective since the quantity is decent and the bottle lasts me for 2 ½ to 3 months
  • Organix doesn’t test on animals.
  • Amazing fragrance and so many other varieties of nourishing formulae available.
  • It did not leave the scalp dry , like sulphate shampoos tend to do.

Cons of Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo:

  • The fragrance could’ve lingered on the hair for longer.
  • If some people prefer pump bottles , they wouldn’t like the traditional cap and squeeze –bottle Organix packaging.
  • Some people may not enjoy the sweet coconutty aroma – they can try the other shampoos in this range.
  • If someone has exceptionally dry and brittle hair , they wouldn’t like this shampoo. For them a milder , intensely hydrating shampoo will be appropriate.

IMBB rating:
4/5 ( 1 rating has been subtracted because the fragrance is not long lasting )

Will I repurchase Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo?
Yes , I will repurchase this shampoo in the future , and will like to try out other variants of this brand as well. I have heard good things about the supporting hair products like split ends mender and argan oil of this range – and those are on my shopping list for now.

  1. I think I’ve read your reviews on organic stuff Shikha 😛 these shampoos are so exotic while being. Cost effective. My first instinct is to sniff the bottle every time I get a new variant 😛

  2. One word HORRIBLE my hair is so dried out from this stuff I switched to it because the other shampoo I was using was making my scalp itch because I got pregnant now i need to buy an expensive bottle after my daughter is born to restore my hair I’m very disappointed!
