Oriflame Coconut & Ricemilk Nourishing Hair Mask Review

I have been eyeing this Coconut and Ricemilk hair mask from Oriflame for a long time. Finally, got it when I did an Oriflame haul and I am not regretting getting it one bit, why, lets see. First of all, the mask smells like coconut barfi. The moment I smelled it, I wanted the same scent in my hair. In fact, it is hard trying to resist opening it again and again, donno whether it’s the mallu obsession with everything coconuty.

Coming back to the mask, this creamy consistency mask is packed inside a cute container that looks like a half coconut shell. There is enough mask in there that would last you at least 10 washes if you have medium below-shoulder length hair. So, good amount of product in there for Rs. 249.

WHY COCONUT AND RICEMILK AS A HAIR MASK:

Coconut oil is known to add bounce and shine to dry and damaged hair. Coconut oil has the ability to penetrate the hair shaft and reduce protein loss as compared to other oils.

Coconut oil is an age-old hair treatment used to condition, strengthen, and silken hair. It also conditions the scalp and is used as a relaxing treatment.

Ricemilk is used as substitute for cow’s milk in lactose-intolerant people. Rice milk is low in fat and high in protein and hence it acts as a nourisher.

PRICE: Rs. 249 for 150 mL 5.0 fl.oz.

HOW TO USE:

Since neither the catalogue nor the product carried any “how to use” instructions, I deviced (??) my own method. First, I wash my hair with a mild shampoo to get all the dirt off my hair. Then, I squeeze out excess water from the hair, so that it is “just” wet. Next, I take a considerable amount of mask in my hands and run it through my hair smoothing it in the ends of the hair. I do apply the mask in the roots of hair because it is a nourishing mask and since my hair is curly, I do not end up with limp hair (straighties will have to find out). I keep the hair mask on for 10 minutes and then rinse it off thoroughly. However, I think that wrapping a hot towel would do a lot more good, but I am plain lazy to do that, so I skip that step.

Another thing, I forgot to mention is that this mask lathers a little when you rub it into your hair, so I am guessing it has SLES or some other lathering agent. Since Oriflame does not detail out their ingredients list, I can only guess.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH COCONUT AND RICEMILK NOURISHING HAIR MASK:

I have used this mask for around 4 to 5 times now and I am pretty happy with the results. One of the major reasons that I am very glad that I have this mask is that the sweet scent lingers in the hair even after you have washed your hair. After using this one, I noted that the curls in my lower part of the hair got defined nicely. They were like in proper curls and I guess it would work wonderfully on straight hair too. As far as disappointments are concerned, I was expecting it to work as a conditioner, but the mask did not add shine or condition my hair. After going through the mask’s description, I realized that nowhere it’s mentioned that it will work as a conditioner, it is just a nourishing hair mask and does just that. Since, I have not much of a hair fall problem, I did not/could not notice much change as far as nourishment goes, but I am guessing it works well.

PROS OF COCONUT AND RICEMILK NOURISHING HAIR MASK:

  • Smells wonderful and it lingers in the hair for some time too.
  • Adequate amount of mask for the price.
  • Creamy consistency of the mask gets spread evenly throughout hair.
  • There is no dripping.
  • No side effects.
  • My curls are much more disciplined with this hair mask.

CONS OF COCONUT AND RICEMILK NOURISHING HAIR MASK:

  • It is not a conditioner, I so wished it worked as a conditioner as well.
  • No ingredient list is mentioned.
  • Does not add shine, but it does not claim it will.

WILL I REPURCHASE IT: Yes because I love the way my hair smells after using it and works wonderfully in defining my unruly curls.

IMBB STAR RATING: :-* :-* :-* ……2 for the smell and 1 for the way my curls behave with it.

I use another hair mask of oriflame.
And they give ‘how to use’ instructions underneath the tub. There I peeled off and there was directions to use there. Search if there is peel off somewhere underneath :))
And you are using it correctly what they mentioned. Except the time is 5 mins. And also a small suggestion is to condition your hair rinse it and then apply mask. This is how I use it. :))
