Hey Gals..

Hope all of you are enjoying the changing weather, we are also feeling happy and cheerful as our daughter is fit and fine now! Thanks to everyone for your valuable blessings and wishes, there is no big power than prayers which worked like magic in our life and our baby is giggling and laughing once again! I hope this brings an end to our bad luck and miserable month as well.

Anyways, today I am here to share a new entry in my skin care regimen, which is my first purchase from Origins brand. I heard and read a lot about origins and recently tried their toner as toners are a must-have stuff for oily skinned beauties in summers especially! However, I was pretty much happy with my current skin care regimen (which easily replaces my toner) until I started noticing frequent oily skin due to excessive hot humid weather. And the irony is that I am not very happy and not yet convinced to splurge on origins products again. SO, please read on further to know more about Origins Zero Oil Pore Purifying Toner with Saw Palmetto and mint..

Price: $21 for 5.0 Fl Oz (150 ml)

Packaging: This transparent toner almost resembles water except its strong smell which might be bothering for sensitive noses. It comes in ordinary yet sturdy, transparent green bottle with white mushroom cap and no safety cap or sieve to control flow of runny toner. Over all quite ordinary, unhygienic and messy packaging for a toner as I always end up getting more than required on cotton.

My Experience with Origins Zero Oil Pore Purifying Toner with saw Palmetto and Mint:

I actually had high hopes with this origins toner as I read it is infused with few skin friendly ingredients including saw palmetto fruit extract, sage leaf extract etc though I ignored the fact that presence of essential oils might be bothering for oily, sensitive skin sometime and I can read 2-3 essential oils in its formulation straight way. Thankfully it did not irritate my oily acne prone skin other than showing its inefficiency.

I have been using it for a few weeks and meanwhile I never noticed new blemishes or zits on my face luckily in fact I did feel slight clear and smooth skin but credit should also be given to my whole CTM routine. I must say this toner works well in conjunction with any type of skin care regimen though. I used it religiously AM/PM with my Dr dennis gross day lotion and Ole henriksen night gel and it worked fine with both of them. I never noticed any stinging or burning sensation so far other than a mild cooling sensation while dabbing it on my skin. However its strong smell often bothered my eyes, have you ever noticed that mild irritation on eyes while dabbing alcohol infused astringents/toners near nose bridge and cheeks as if those drops enter inside eyes while evaporating from skin surface?

To my surprise, it immediately sinks or evaporates (I guess our skin does not absorb the fluid) off my skin surface leaving behind clean and clear skin for a while and I did feel it made my moisturizer application quite effortless. But the issue is I could not notice any significant difference on my oily skin before and after using this toner. I mean I have been using Dr dennis gross moisturizer for a while and it gives me good 4-5 hours of clear matte skin during current hot/humid days irrespective of using this toner! Moreover, I don’t feel this toner increased staying power of my make up nor did wonders to keep oil at bay as I felt usual oily skin within 3-4 hours of using this toner. I just feel it gives me cool soothing sensation, clears skin but it is just neutral in terms of oil control on my skin.

And my main motive of incorporating toners in skin care regimen was to increase staying power of my face make up and control oil which is unfortunately not fulfilled by this toner. It temporarily shrinks my pores say 1-2 hours alone while I can get pretty good results from my face powder and/or face primers! I don’t think it is of much utility for oily, combination and/or sensitive skin. I would not recommend this pricey toner to anyone unless your concerns are different than oily, combination skin gals. I am not going to consider it ever in my skin care regimen again!

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of Origins Zero Oil Pore Purifying Toner with Saw Palmetto and Mint

 A toner meant for mild and soothing sensation on skin infused with goodness of sage leaf extract, saw palmetto fruit extract, mint etc
 It does help in clearing dirt and grime off skin surface post cleansing
 It does not accentuate my oily, acne prone skin thankfully
 It mildly clears my skin up to good extent
 It works well in conjunction with any natural or chemically formulated skin care regimens
 It did not break me out so far
 It does work well as facial mist though it need to be handled with care as it might irritate our sensitive eyes

Cons of Origins Zero Oil Pore Purifying Toner with Saw Palmetto and Mint

• It does not have any second sieve in cap other than big white cap which often messes up and it’s so unhygienic
• This toner might irritate your sensitive eyes and noses through its strong alcohol infused herbal-chemical smell
• It is inefficient in controlling oil as I never felt any significant difference in before and after results of using this toner
• It does not work on open pores
• It seems pricey for those average results

I feel slight disappointed from this toner as it proved to be failure for my two bigger concerns oily skin and open pores. I am happy though as it did not break me out nor dried my skin and so I can make use of this toner in other ways luckily! I would not recommend this toner to sensitive skin gals, oily/combination skin gals may try it in winters though it’s a nay for summers completely. I am not getting it again. For me its 2.5/5!
