I am back with my reviews of a few more Orly nail polishes and the shades that I am reviewing today are Sheer Nude, Gilded Coral and Grape Glitz. Read on to find out how these shades fared on me.
$8 for 0.6 fl oz / 18 ml. I have mini-bottles purchased as a part of a set.
As one of the nail care industry’s renowned color houses, Orly has established a dynamic palette composed of subtle sheers, vivid cremes, dazzling shimmers, smooth glitters and hot neons. Each ORLY shade is free of DBP, formaldehyde and toluene, and features the award-winning Gripper Cap.
My Experience with Orly Nail Lacquer in shades Sheer Nude, Gilded Coral and Grape Glitz:
Packaging: The Orly lacquer comes in circular glass bottles which are pretty handy. It features an award-winning gripper cap. Orly claims that this cap is ergonomically designed so as to give the user a firm hold allowing for smooth and precise application. Honestly, I did not find too much of a difference in application due to this cap. So, it is not really a selling point for me.
Brush Applicator: I found the brush to be okay, nothing special to write about. It picks up a fairly good quantity of the polish and the application was easy too.
Drying Power: The nail polish dries pretty fast. Even 2 coats dry out fast and I surely did not have to wait for the nail polish to dry before I could get back to my work.
Staying Power: The staying power is really good and the polish easily stays on my nails for 4-5 days before it starts to fade.
Now, for some detailed review of each of the colors:
1. Sheer Nude:
This shade is true to its name – it is indeed a sheer nude. I could not get it completely opaque even in 3 coats. The best use of this shade is to use as a base for a French Manicure. It gives a nice glossy sheen to the nails. Many nudes have a tendency to make my hands appear darker than they are. I like that this nail polish does not do that.
2. Gilded Coral:
The gilded part in the name is fine as this nail polish does have gold undertones, but it is surely not coral. It is a light peach with a lot of gold shimmer. I did not have high expectations from this shade. But surprisingly, I love it on my hands. For a polish which has so much gold shimmer, it manages to look subdued and muted. And I don’t own another nail polish like this 🙂 But this shade might not suit duskier skin tones. You surely need 2 coats to get rid of the visible nail line.
3. Grape Glitz:
This shade is a lovely lilac with lots of shimmer in it. I loved this shade in the bottle and was quite eager to try it. Unfortunately, it applies too sheer and I could not get an opaque finish even in 3 coats. Quite a disappointment!! I now use it on top of some of my other purple nail polishes to get a shimmery finish.
Pros of Orly Nail Lacquer in shades Sheer Nude, Gilded Coral and Grape Glitz:
- Good staying power (4-5 days).
- Dries very fast.
- Good consistency of polish, applies well.
Cons of Orly Nail Lacquer in shades Sheer Nude, Gilded Coral and Grape Glitz:
- Sheer N*de and Grape Glitz are very sheer shades which will not work on their own.
- Gilded Coral might not suit all skin tones.
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Orly Nail Lacquer in shades Sheer Nude, Gilded Coral and Grape Glitz?
The quality of the nail polishes is good, but these shades are a bit sheer. You can try Gilded Coral if you like the shade. I already have a few more Orly nail polishes and might not repurchase.
