Outfit of the Day: Cotton Silk Saree and Durga Earrings

Outfit of the Day: Cotton Silk Saree and Durga Earrings

Hi everyone,

This is my second outfit for Diwali. I wore this Coimbtore Cotton Silk saree for “Padwa.” The third day of Diwali is celebrated as “Diwalicha Padva” by us in Maharashtra. This is a celebration of togetherness of husband and wife and love shared by them. To mark the occasion wife does “aukshan” of her husband and husbands present a special gift to their wife.  We also give oil massage and then ubtan bath to our hubbies on this day (no wonder husbands have to shell out these gifts on this day, we make them spic and span!)

Anyway, this saree was a gift from my brother from one of trips down south. I paired the saree with black brocade blouse. I got these beautiful Durga earrings from Eina Ahluwalia and was dying to give them another festive outing after Durga Puja. They go perfectly with my saree.

I added my Andhra Thali mangalsutra and shiny gold bangles that my mom got for me from Hyderabad. I am carrying a batwa, which my bua does. She makes some amazing Batwas. This one is from her collection.

Makeup-wise, I am wearing Lotus herbals Naturaglow daily tinted moisturiser spf 25, MAC feline kajal, Clinique Mascara, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in RIO and MAC just Bitten on my lips.

  1. Saee, I have to admit that I am a big fan of your saree collection. *jai ho* *jai ho*

After seeing your wedding saree collection I am so adamant about not getting any of these net fad sarees in my trousseau. I am doing a very thorough research and trying to lay my hands on real classic pieces! *clap*

Love the look again. Very pretty. *hifive*

  2. 3. you look beautiful saee. 🙂 And India has such beautiful traditions no. It’d take a whole life time to explore the beauties of India. Was telling my mom to teach me how to drape saree. Guess I’d have to take the onus on myself only to learn the task. 😛

yeah I also want to know which place is this. It’s so pretty. 🙂

    1. Thank you Rati. I totally agree with you about India and its beauty. You should learn to wear a saree. All the best. That place is my uncles home.
