Outfit of the Day: Illusion Skirt

From high-waisted and retro to slim and neat, skirt is that one garment in your closet that offers the greatest variety of options. From pencil and A-Line skirts for office wear to the mini, midi and maxi route for the happy hours, skirts are a multi-faceted piece of clothing. What I personally love about skirts is their ability to stand out on their own and at the same time blend with the top/blouse/shirt/T-Shirt of your choice and lend the outfit feel of a complete dress.
Skirts – maxis and midis – are having a major fashion moment, but the new entrant to the universe has been the sheer trend. The “Illusion Skirt” as it is being called popularly, finds a comfortable balance between sexy and elegant. While I found favourites in this and this when it came down to adding one in The TrimmingsAndLace Collection, I couldn’t escape my inherent sense of choosing lace (how I love you).
The styling with this outfit has been very simple and muted. While the floral shirt (last worn here) provides minimal degrees of colour, the embellished sling bag adds texture to the entire outfit. I preferred the jewellery to be in the same colour tone as the rest of the outfit, so as to let the skirt shine unperturbed.
So, does the outfit move up your alley? After all, as quoted by Voltaire, “Illusion is the first of all pleasure.” I say the next is shopping?
