Palladio Coffee Bean Herbal Lipstick Review

Ola bonita chica’s!
It is so hot! It is SO hot! Itissooohot! I figured the only way to keep my love of makeup alive while sweltering in the heat is to switch to simpler herbal and ‘lighter’ products. Not such a bad idea you might say, correct? Well I am yet to find a lipstick that ticks all my boxes so if you find something before I do, do let me know. And If I could some up the performance of the lipstick I am about to tell you more of it would be not-bad-but-not-wow-either. This is not a lipstick I was particularly coveting or anything. I had to spend a few more bucks online to qualify for free shipping so I picked this! Let me tell you lots more about it!

This lipstick is packaged in a simple grey plastic with absolutely nothing sexy about it. The reason why I picked this shade is that it seemed perfect for fall and because the shade was out of season it was on the sale list I guess! The brand name is printed on bold on the bottom half of the square bullet and these lipsticks are also colour coded on the bottom to make them instantly recognizable in your stash. For a second, I got excited that it might be a twistable lip gloss on that end like a certain UK drugstore brand but it is just coloured plastic. The lipstick twists up and out smoothly and locks shut securely.

Price:
USD 6 for 3.7 gram of product but the price for this varies in stores.

My experience with Palladio Coffee Bean Herbal Lipstick:

Palladio is a brand that I am new to and they claim to make Botanical and Vitamin infused cosmetics. So they are supposed to be summer friendly and good for you. These lipsticks are ‘herbal’ but the only herbal product I see in the ingredients is Chamomile flower extract and I am not sure what good that is supposed to do for my lips.

The lipstick itself is not bad. It applies very smoothly and that could be attributed to the general cocktail of Castor oil, carnauba wax and candelilla wax that most eyeliners and lipsticks do contain. So it does not drag during application. The lipstick also has a sparkly shimmer element to it which thankfully does not show up on application. I personally do not prefer such lipsticks and am more of a matte lips person so the shimmer scared me initially but I was happy to not see it on my lips.

What I liked was that the shades online were true to what you get and the colour coding at the bottom of the lipstick is true to colour. There was no funky smell to this lipstick. It kind of had a vanilla taste till I read the ingredients and indeed it has have vanilla flavour listed in there. This does not bleed and I used it without a lip liner. It also does not settle in or exaggerate fine lines. This lipstick did not dry out or flake my lips. So, so far so good.

Where it does let down is the pigmentation. It needs several swipes to kind of get that intense colour. Also the lasting power is not that great and it fades easier than say a regular MAC lipstick. But it does not leave behind any stain, or it did not on my lips. The formula is quite creamy so although it is moisturising like I said it needs quite a few swipes to get the colour going so in the end it felt like I had over applied Vaseline on my lips. The end result was that they felt heavy. But the lipstick did not feel sticky at all, it just seemed like there was too much going on with my lips. I do not think this shade is for me though. I could maybe work it in cooler weather as an evening look but I felt like this shade made my skin tone look darker and duller.

Dupe:
This shade is a very close dupe of MAC’s Sheer Plum (Lustre finish). Sheer Plum too needs a few swipes before the colour kicks in although Palladio’s Coffee Bean is just a hint darker. They both have that creamy (and very non-matte) look to it.

Pros of Palladio Coffee Bean Herbal Lipstick:

  • Creamy and moisturising
  • Glides on application
  • Value for money
  • Does not bleed or settle in fine lines

Cons of Palladio Coffee Bean Herbal Lipstick:

  • Feels a bit heavy when on as several swipes are needed for good colour pay off.
  • Not the best colour for Indian skin tones in the summer.
  • Contains parabens.

Would I repurchase or recommend the Palladio Coffee Bean Herbal Lipstick?
If I was in a different season I would probably love it and recommend it. This lipstick is just not for me right now thought. Also it did not impress me enough to repurchase another colour, I would rather spend a little extra and buy from L’Oreal’s new extended range!
