The Pantene Pro V Smooth and Silky Range claims to tame unruly tangles. It coats each hair shaft with conditioning particles that form a protective layer on the cuticle, so hair is smoother and shinier thanks to better alignment of its fibres.

Pantene’s Pro V formulas go right to where your hair is the most damaged and in need. The result is hair that’s well balanced, well nourished and beautiful.

Product Claim:

• Deeply nourishes hair on the inside.
• Specifically targets driest and most damaged parts of hair.
• Helps hair look straight and smooth.

My Take on Pantene Pro v Smooth and Silky Conditioner:

The conditioner comes in a plain white bottle with a flip cap at the bottom. The cap appears to be tight and leak proof.

Pantene

The back of the bottle had a couple of stickers, one for the ingredients and one for the sticking address.  Directions of use are to apply on hair after shampooing and then rinse off. They haven’t mentioned to leave it on for a few minutes, though I guess leaving it would be better. They recommend using it with a Pantene Smooth and Silky Shampoo.

Back

The product itself is thick and creamy and not at all runny. It smells pleasant and somehow reminds me of happy things. My hair was smoother and softer after washing, but it definitely was nowhere near shiny. Their claim of manageable, tangle free hair is true, it was a lot easier to comb, but appearance wise, not at all the shinier, nourished look that they claimed. My frizz also, was not really under control, and all this after I had oiled my hair and left it for half an hour prior to washing. Since my hair is curly, it looks all the more drier and lacking of a healthy shine.

Shampoo

Other conditioners in the Pantene Pro V range include the Hair Fall Control and Nourished Shine variants.

Ingredients:

Water, Stearyl Alcohol, Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Behentrimonium Methosulphate, Cetyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Alcohol, Benzyl Alcohol, Fragrance, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Disodium EDTA, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Panthenol, Panthenyl Ethyl Ether, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Limonene, Geraniol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone.

Pros of Pantene Pro V Smooth and Silky Conditioner:

  • Easily available.
  • Reasonably priced.
  • Long shelf life.
  • Pleasant fragrance.
  • Thick and non-runny consistency.
  • Hair is softer to touch.
  • Tangles are much fewer and combing is easier.
  • No parabens visible in ingredient list.

Cons of Pantene Pro V Smooth and Silky Conditioner:

  • Packaging is not very attractive.
  • Hair doesn’t have any added shine or nourished feel.
  • Frizz is not controlled.
  • Dry look persists even after oiling.
  • Not recommended for curly hair.

Verdict:

Not at all satisfactory, especially considering the tall claims made. My biggest problems are frizz and dry, undernourished look; and both these problems were not solved. It was however easier to comb and more manageable in that sense. The main plus for me was the pleasant fragrance.

Would I Buy This Again?

No, I don’t think I would.

  3. I’ve been badmouthing Pantene for years but this conditioner converted me. Strange that I seem to be the only one here who likes it. 😮 It worked wonderfully well on my frizzy perm and honestly, I was more satisfied with this one than with the Matrix Biolage conditioner that I was using earlier. :woot: :woot:

    1. :stars: :stars: .. why working for u onlyyy… ??? me too want something to contol my dry hair.. I have oily scalp and dry hair.. :yuck: :yuck:

      1. Yes, it’s weird that it’s working for only me. 😮 😮 Maybe it’s a conspiracy by the Pantene people to trap me in their evil net? :sidefrown: :chewnails
For dry hair, have you tried the L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Repairing Mask? I’ve recently started using it and it makes my hair soft. :woot: :woot: The shampoo and conditioner from the range are lousy though – only this treatment is good. If you can stand the stickiness (and the Pooh Bears that you may attract :silly: ) try applying honey on hair (but not scalp) for 30-45 minutes before shampooing it off. Works as a good mask. 😀 😀

  4. Hawww..thats so bad….. :(( :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: for the review Fabida!!

  5. i recently purchased the Roots 66 (Giovanni) volume shampoo from H&G. I have normal hair I think. this one works very well for me. it is quite steep at 495 bucks but prettttttty nice. The only drawback I find is that it is a little watery in consistency. If this is the only shampoo you will use it is lot likely to finish faster than the other shampoos. I think having a backup is a must.

so having said that, I like conditioners in general so this one I would love to try. On my hair they all work pretty much the same.

    1. Hii Aruna..even I am using Giovanni’s heat protectant and so far really liking it a lot…Even my problem is the same..watery consistency, which is ok for a heat protectant but it doesn’t even come with a spray!! :(( I am planning to buy a separate spray and attach to it.. 😀

And that too costed me 500 bucks.. :))

      1. oh gosh..these things dont come cheap..what all we have to do to look good!!!.. :preen: my husband is like one shampoo, no conditioner..dosent care abt the volume one or any particular type. whatever is there he will use..no fuss..simple living..boring but simple nevertheless :hihi:
