Pantene Pro-V Fullness and Life Intensive Hair Mask Review

As I had shared with you earlier that I really liked using The Body Shop Radiance Hair Butter, I was eager to try another hair mask, but the Pantene brand in US did not have any masks available at stores which I had seen in India. So, I asked my friend to get me the Pantene Pro-V Nature Care Fullness and Life Intensive Hair Mask. What attracted me to this product was the claim about providing professional quality intensive repair for hair. I have always drooled over the lovely hair, which our celebrities flaunt in the glossy magazines. I was all set to get the mask as my dry hair desperately screamed for “fullness and life.”

Packaging:

The hair mask comes in a wide-mouthed white colored plastic tub with a green flip top cap. The packaging is beneficial as I can easily close and open the cap during the shower. The hair mask has a floral smell, which is fresh and pleasant. Texture wise, it looks like a whipped cream, which has a pale green tinge to it. Pantene also has another hair mask in its Nature Fusion Category with the theme of Smoothness and Life reviewed here.

My Experience with Pantene Pro-V Fullness and Life Intensive Hair Mask:

The product’s instruction dictates that the hair mask should be applied after the conditioner. So, for the first couple of uses, I followed the order of shampooing my hair followed by conditioner and rinsing it out before finally applying the hair mask.  But the end result that I got  – my hair became extremely flat as if I had put a lot of oil in my hair and then tried to rinse it with water.  Instead of the product’s claim of giving fullness and life to hair, my hair rather became very lifeless.

So, I changed my modus operandi and now I use this hair mask instead of conditioner immediately after shampooing. This time my hair responded in a much better arrangement. After the hair wash, along with smelling great, my hair felt softer to touch and the fly-aways were lesser.

However, I do have to make sure that I do not apply lot of hair mask at a time.  “More is better” is not a good rule for this mask as it makes my hair very dull.  The fragrance of the hair mask tends to stay in my hair until the next hair wash.  Also, I have lesser tangles in my dry hair.

The product’s claim about rejuvenating weak and tired hair did not seem to work on my hair.  The ingredient list of avocado, Bambusa Shoot extract and grape seed extract did not provide hair nourishment or improved my hair texture. Overall, I did not find it to be any better than a hair conditioner.

Pros of Pantene Pro-V Fullness and Life Intensive Hair Mask:

• Makes dry hair softer and more manageable.
• Small amount is required for each application.
• Fragrance is floral and pleasant which stays in hair until the next hair wash.
• Lesser tangles in frizz-prone hair.

Cons of Pantene Pro-V Fullness and Life Intensive Hair Mask:

• Would not be suitable for normal or oily hair type.
• When used after conditioner as per product’s instruction, it makes hair very flat and limp.
• Has loads of chemical contents in the hair mask.
• Does not help in providing improvement of hair texture.
• Did not observe any rejuvenation in hair as per product’s claim.
• Found it to be more useful as a conditioner than a hair mask.

Would I Repurchase Pantene Pro-V Fullness and Life Intensive Hair Mask?

No, I would not buy this product again as it works no better than a hair conditioner. It has lot of chemicals which I feel apprehensive to apply on my already color-treated hair. It makes me think if I should probably use natural kitchen products as hair mask from now on.
