Pantene Pro-V Pro-Vitamin Oil Hair Fall Control Review

Hi beautiful ladies,

I shall be reviewing a hair oil today. I generally don’t oil my hair as I tend to lose more hair strands with oiling. I have been battling hair fall problem since some time now. I am always on a look out for products which claim to stop or reduce hair fall. In an attempt to control the ever increasing rate of hair fall, I picked up this oil last month. Read on further to see if it helped me or not.

My Experience with Pantene Pro-V Pro-Vitamin Oil Hair Fall Control:

Packaging: It comes in an oval plastic bottle, which is transparent. It has a black flip top cap, which clicks shut the bottle. Though I have carried it while travelling and it did not spill, but I still feel the flip cover is flimsy. The transparent bottle is good as you can find out how much oil is used and how much is left for the next usage.

It is a transparent liquid, which has a mild fruity fragrance. The smell is not bothersome infact it is quite pleasing to the senses. The oil has a runny consistency and is very light to feel. True to it’s claim of being non sticky. It gets absorbed very fast and does not leave the hair greasy or heavy. I generally oil my hair overnight and wash off the next morning. 8-10 hours is a fairly good time for the oil to get absorbed into the pores of the scalp. It comes off in two washes easily and the hair feel a little less frizzy and soft to touch post the hairwash. I even tried using it as a serum on damp hair, since it absorbs quickly. It worked fairly well as a serum too. So far so good.

BUT, this oil does not work at all on the hair fall control part for which I picked it up and what it is meant for. Moreover, it contains silicon and mineral oil. I mean somebody who is suffering from hair oil would not want to use anything loaded with chemicals, which might aggravate the existing problem leave apart solving it .Though the hair fall did not increase, but there was no reduction in the amount of hair strands I was losing everyday. Despite the continuous usage, which was around 20 odd days and I was applying the hair oil every alternate day, it failed to live upto its claim.

Summarising the pros and cons.

Pros of Pantene Pro-V Pro-Vitamin Oil Hair Fall Control:

  • Non sticky oil, which does not weigh down the hair.
  • Transparent sturdy plastic packaging.
  • Gets absorbed quickly and therefore no greasy feeling.
  • Hair feels soft and less frizzy post hair wash.
  • Mild fragrance.

Cons of Pantene Pro-V Pro-Vitamin Oil Hair Fall Control:

  • Does not stop the hair fall.
  • Contains paraffin, mineral oil and some kind of alcohol.
  • Does not give any deep nourishment to the hair.

Would I repurchase/recommend Pantene Pro-V Pro-Vitamin Oil Hair Fall Control?

Hell No! I my myself was amazed that why did I keep on using it despite knowing it had alcohol and mineral oil. The product fails to deliver what it is meant for, so there is no point in recommending it.

  1. seriously i don’t get it why they make oil loaded with chemicals and claim it to reduce hairfall 🙁
Dear you should try the mix of hairoil I use: 1 part coconut oil, 1 part olive oil, half part almond oil and half part castor oil, heat the concoction till all oil comes in same consistency, let it cool a little bit and massage it on scalp when it is lukewarm 🙂 I hope it helps you..

  2. Anubhuti, I agree, it’s loaded isoparafin, mineral oil – shivani – use natural herbal oil. Check out sumera’s diy.

  3. Most hair oils available these days contain mineral oil at a higher content than other oils, I check the ingredient list thoroughly before buying. I’d recommend you make a hair tonic of your own with a mixture of oils. 🙂

  4. When these type of oils came into the market I too was almost sucked into them. This is a total reminder that natural is way better for us. Thanks for that Shivani.
