My experience with Pantene Total Damage Care Shampoo:

I bought this range only because of one of my friend’s who swears by Pantene. She has gorgeous hair and though I have switched to SLS free shampoos, I was totally tempted to buy it. The shampoo comes in a white bottle with a golden flip open cap. If you have used Pantene shampoos earlier, you will know the exact smell of this one. The consistency of this shampoo is creamy, on the runny side and it lathers pretty well. It removes the oil from the hair within two washes and you get a clean scalp. The smell stays in the hair for quite a long time if you are indoors, but only 3-4 hours if outdoors.

Now, I have heard extreme reviews about Pantene products and well my case is the same. This shampoo works well on my friend’s hair but it did not suit my hair at all. Although it cleans the scalp well and is moisturizing but at the same time, it gave me terrible hair fall. At first I thought it might be because of the change in the hair care products, but even after a week the situation did not get any better. I had to stop using it immediately or else I would have got bald patches. Also with time, the shampoo tends to cause product build up so using a clarifying shampoo once a week is a must.

Pros of Pantene Total Damage Care Shampoo:

• Cleans the scalp well
• Smells decent (typical Pantene smell)
• Removes oil from the hair
• Does not dry out the hair (the ends of my hair are moisturized even without a conditioner)
• Lathers well
• Inexpensive
• Travel friendly packaging

Cons of Pantene Total Damage Care Shampoo:

• It caused terrible hair fall
• Loaded with chemicals
• Causes product build up over time

Final Verdict:

If you have used Pantene products in the past and they have worked well for you, then go ahead and try this variant but if you are someone who has not yet had a good experience with Pantene, you should not invest in this one.

  3. Same here *headbang* *headbang* pantene had caused severe hairfall right from the first use.
I still used it upto 8washes thinking with time my scalp would get used to it and the hairfall will subside but to ky horror it never subsided *cry* *cry* *cry*
Same is the case with dove! *duel*
Btw everyone here talks about switching to SLS free shampoos but whenever I tried such herbal shampoos, they seemed to be worst for my hair than the SLS wala shampoos.
Anybody feels same or is it only me? 😛
