Patanjali Coconut Hair Wash – Has Great Ingredients But Does it Work?

Hope you all are in the pink of health and enjoying the beautiful change in weather!! I totally love this season!! The chill in the air, hot cups of tea, warm snugly blankets, buckets of popcorn and some awesome awesome movies!!! Bliss! But this weather can be really bad for my hair. I have pretty dry and frizzy hair, and often winter makes it more difficult to manage. So, I really have to choose well from the variety of hair cleansers available in the market. The product I would be reviewing today is “Patanjali Coconut Hair Wash.”

Patanjali Coconut Hair Wash

Patanjali Coconut Hair Wash

My Experience with Patanjali Coconut Hair Wash:

During one of my regular visits to the Patanjali store (well… yeah! It has become a kind of a ritual for me!!!), I came across this product. It was new and seemed quite interesting. I wanted some cleanser that would tame the frizz to some extent and make my hair soft and smooth. I also suffer from a lot of hair fall. This product seemed to target all of these problems. So, let’s check out how this worked for me!

This shampoo has coconut oil, ghritkumari (aloe vera), methi (fenugreek), bhringraj, and henna. Coconut oil helps in increasing the softness, strength, shine, and overall health of hair. Aloe vera increases hair shine, moisture and prevents hair loss. Methi is well known for facilitating hair growth and improving thickness of hair. Bhringraj is known to arrest hair fall and promote hair growth. Henna is a natural conditioner which also helps in adding volume to hair, and covering greys. Really awesome ingredients!!

The shampoo comes in a simple, no-fuss tube packaging. All of the other shampoos by Patanjali come in bottles. This comes in a conditioner-like big tube. Leak proof, sturdy, travel friendly. It is a white-colored tube with a design of coconuts and some herbs on it. The description of the product, list of ingredients and other details have been mentioned on the tube.

The smell of this shampoo is AMAZING!!!!! There is nothing herbal about this smell, but it is none-the-less awesome!! It is a bit flowery and quite refreshing. It lingers for one day or so. Though the fragrance seems a bit strong in the tube, it is quite mild once the shampoo is applied to hair. The texture is really soft and smooth. The consistency of this product is exactly like a conditioner. When I used it the first time, it actually felt as though I was using a conditioner. It is neither runny nor thick – just perfect. It lathers really well – even a small amount of shampoo is enough to create a lot of suds!

Coming to the performance of this product….. I LOVE it!!!! There are very few shampoos that make my terrible hair really soft and manageable. I think this product is a kind of shampoo+conditioner, considering texture, consistency as well as performance. I always oil my hair the night before hair wash and I have realized that mostly all shampoos (including this one) work better on hair that has been pampered with an oil massage. But even if I do end up using it on non-oiled hair, it does not make my hair look bad and in fact, makes it quite soft. I have skipped conditioner on some occasions, and yet, this has worked quite well for me. The results are best when I oil my hair, use this shampoo and then a conditioner. Soft, smooth, manageable hair!! It reduces frizz to a small extent (not much).

It has also added a bit of shine to my hair with regular use. The shampoo leaves the scalp feeling squeaky clean, but when I touch my hair while rinsing off the shampoo, it feels silky but as though there is some kind of silky film on it – the same kind of feel that you get after applying a conditioner. It does not bother me much, since I have realized that it is not some kind of greasy residue. It is probably the herbal ingredients and coconut oil that causes this kind of feeling.

There are two things about this shampoo that I am not too fond of. I have shoulder length hair, and I do not apply too much of oil. Yet, I require so much of this product to actually get rid of all the oil and greasiness!!! At this rate, I might end up using the entire tube in no time! Also, it has done nothing for my hair fall.

Pros of Patanjali Coconut Hair Wash:

  • Affordable.
  • Sturdy packaging.
  • Smells amazing.
  • Lathers really well.
  • Cleans scalp thoroughly.
  • Makes hair soft, silky and manageable.
  • Adds a bit of healthy shine (with regular use).

Cons of Patanjali Coconut Hair Wash:

  • A lot of product is required to get rid of all the oil and greasiness.
  • Does not do much for arresting hair fall.

IMBB Rating:

4/5
