Skin type: oily-sensitive, acne prone
How are you doing today? I am here to share my views about another skin care product, Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Gel. I saw people raving about her AHA and BHA products, hence I tried Paula’s Choice Resist daily Pore Refining Treatment with 2% BHA last year. And after my wonderful experience with the liquid exfoliant, I wanted to try their gel products as well. So I picked up this one. I have been using this for a few weeks now and it has already become a staple in my night time skincare regime. Let’s find out more about it.
Price: $29 for 3.3 Fl Oz
This leave-on gel exfoliant is a completely non-abrasive way to shed built-up layers of dead skin to reveal the radiant smooth skin that’s hiding underneath. It also shrinks stubborn clogged pores, diminishes the appearance of wrinkles, and improves skin tone for firmer-looking skin.

My Experience with Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Gel:
The BHA gel comes in an opaque and sturdy plastic bottle packaging with a tightly fitted cap and a pump dispenser opening. It does have a strong medicinal smell which hardly stays there post application. Overall, I like the travel-friendly and user-friendly packaging. As I mentioned earlier, my sole reason for replacing the previous liquid exfoliant with this gel was its watery consistency. This gel exfoliant doesn’t really have a gel consistency. I was, in fact, slightly disappointed to see its runny consistency. I can see that one pump of the gel works well for the whole face, considering it has a slushy gel cum liquid texture. This gel easily spreads on the skin surface. And like my previous exfoliant, it also leaves a tacky damp finish on the skin for a few minutes post application. This tacky finish slowly fades away to provide a grease/shine free skin.
Now this is definitely acceptable for the night time routine but I hate waiting for that tacky slippery finish to fade on its own. Hence I usually limit its usage to bedtime. Not to forget, it does not help in shrinking the pore size or in providing shine control benefits. It helps in clearing clogged pores, blemishes and occasional freckles, though. Moreover, I like how it works overnight to smoothen out my uneven skin texture apart from fading away acne marks, brown spots. I can also see that with regular usage of my Clarisonic Mia 2 System and this gel, I was able to get rid of my biggest problem, blackheads.
Thanks to Clarisonic system and then this gel, those nasty, creepy creatures are out of my way, finally! This is certainly the biggest achievement of 2016 for me. LOL. In fact, this gel has further impressed me as it has never irritated or bothered my skin even if I use this gel on freshly exfoliated skin. This also means that it takes its own time to show results on our skin. Still, it is fast enough to clear out blemishes and acne in just 2-3 days. It works from day 1 to slowly invigorate and provide a smoother skin with every usage. It took me almost a week to see nice, smooth and clear skin with absolutely no acne, no freckles and visibly smaller pores. All this increased my trust in this product. And I have the weirdest skin type with oily T-zone and dry cheeks, hence this formula seems perfect.
And as I stated earlier, it has removed deep-set blackheads, dirt and grime. I believe in slow and steady results, hence for me this gel is a keeper. If you are also blessed with a highly sensitive skin type and you’re unhappy with other irritating BHA products, then try this. It will slowly help you get rid of your skin care concerns without irritating your skin. Personally, I would like to get it again, considering I have ageing, oily skin type. And with proper care, it can help me age gracefully.
