If you are a regular IMBB reader, you might have come across my review of the Sephora dry shampoo. The Sephora one was a disaster, but that didn’t stop me from trying out other dry shampoos. And today, I am going to review one from Percy and reed. Percy and reed is an English brand founded by two hair-stylists, viz. Percy and Reed. They have some interesting products in their line and I wanted to try something. Thus, I bought this dry shampoo, which I will be reviewing today.
Ingredients And Claims:
Price: INR 1500 for 150 ml
Packaging: The dry shampoo comes in a black and white aerosol bottle with a quirky drawing of a woman with big hair. The design is simple yet fun. And the bottle is of good quantity too.
My Experience With Percy And Reed No Fuss Fabulousness Dry Shampoo:
This dry shampoo works. Wooooooooooh! My faith in innovation in the cosmetics industry is restored. I was seriously hoping for it to work after my brush with Sephora Dry Shampoo, and it didn’t disappoint. My hair was a greasy mess as I hadn’t washed it for 3 days. I took out my new Percy and Reed dry shampoo, sprayed it on my hair and waited for a few seconds (although I wasn’t expecting anything to happen) and then started combing my hair. Boy oh boy, they were in much better condition. The spray actually soaked up the oil and made my mane look fresher.
It also gave some volume to my hair. I was literally dancing with joy. And the cherry on the cake was, it made my hair smell so fresh. Another amazing thing is, that it doesn’t add any heaviness to the hair. But that doesn’t mean that the heaviness of the unwashed hair will be gone. The dry shampoo won’t add or reduce any.
The effect of the dry shampoo lasts depending upon the condition (oiliness) of your hair. If your hair is too oily, it would last for 6-8hours but for people with less oily hair, the effect is longer. For me, it lasted for about 8-10hours which was quite alright with me.
But, it is no magic product. It simply contains cornstarch which absorbs oil. And as I already said, it does not help in reducing the heaviness of unwashed hair and thus is no substitute for a normal shampoo. And when you spray it on, you will find that it does leave some white powder on your hair, although it is not very visible and fades in some time, but again not very desirable.
A thing that bothered me the most was the presence of so much alcohol and chemicals in the dry shampoo. But then all these spray dry shampoos have them! It is like spraying your hair with chemicals. But for a lazy person like me, this shampoo is a must have. Especially for those days when I decide not to wash my hair and it turns out that I have to attend some sort of social gathering where I would definitely not want to flaunt a grease ball for hair.
So finally, summing up the pros and cons.
Pros Of Percy And Reed No Fuss Fabulousness Dry Shampoo:
• Works great as a dry shampoo by absorbing oil from unwashed hair.
• Gives volume to the hair.
• Makes hair smell fresh.
• The lasting powder isn’t too bad.
• Doesn’t add any heaviness to the hair.
• Chic packaging.
Cons Of Percy And Reed No Fuss Fabulousness Dry Shampoo:
• Contains a lot of chemicals.
• Leaves a whitish cast on hair (which although disappears after some time).
• Doesn’t reduce the heaviness of the unwashed hair.
• Limited availability in India.
IMBB Rating: 3.75/5
Will I Repurchase Percy And Reed No Fuss Fabulousness Dry Shampoo?
Probably not, I think I will try other brands before settling down for one dry shampoo. This particular one is not bad, but not the best either.
